Treating the Diseased Superficial Femoral Artery

Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2010
Vascular disease involving the superficial femoral artery (SFA) is common. Once the decision to treat the SFA is made, the benefits and limitations of angioplasty and stents must be applied to each specific patient. Additionally, the potential role of covered stents as well as drug eluting stents must be considered.

In-Stent Restenosis in the Superficial Femoral Artery

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2013
As the number of endovascular peripheral arterial interventions is increasing nationwide, so is the rate of observed in-stent restenosis, specifically in the superficial femoral artery. A paucity of literature is available regarding the pathophysiology, risk factors, and therapies associated with in-stent restenosis of the superficial femoral artery ...

Superficial Femoral Vein and Superficial Femoral Artery as Replacement for Infected Axillofemoral Graft

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2006
We report successful replacement of infected axillofemoral bypass with a combined femoral vein and superficial femoral artery graft. The new graft was transferred through the tunnel left after infected prosthesis removal. Good early and long-term results indicate that this may be a sufficient procedure.

Superficial Femoral Artery Catheterization

American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1972
Leg length measurements were obtained in 250 congenital heart disease patients who had undergone puncture or incision of the right superficial femoral artery at cardiac catheterization. The data give no indication that the procedure results in a notable discrepancy between the length of the lower extremities. It is concluded that significant inequality

[Aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery].

Chirurgia italiana, 1984
The authors start from a case of aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery, they had the opportunity to observe, and discuss the etiopathogenetic, diagnostic and clinical problems involved in this disease. Then, they dwell upon the main therapeutical solutions suggested, and declare inclined to endoaneurysmography with interposition of autologous or ...

Stenting in the femoral superficial artery: an overview

European Journal of Radiology, 1999
Stenting in the superficial femoral artery is still a controversial treatment in case of occlusive disease. Although the results of percutaneous treatment especially in the Hunter canal region are moderate, balloon angioplasty is nowadays an established technique.

Stent-grafts in the superficial femoral artery

European Journal of Radiology, 1998
Superficial femoral artery disease is still cumbersome to treat. While percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) and stent replacement are well established treatment modalities for occlusive iliac or renal artery diseases, less favorable results are obtained with these techniques in the superficial femoral artery.

Endarterectomy of the superficial femoral artery.

Acta chirurgica Scandinavica. Supplementum, 1981
The long-term results of 63 consecutive femoro-popliteal endarterectomies are presented and discussed. The average period of follow-up was 52 months. There were no per- or postoperative deaths. The early failure rate was 30 % (10 out of 63) and five-year patency was 26 %.

Reinterventions in the superficial femoral artery.

The Journal of cardiovascular surgery, 2015
The management of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) has drastically changed since the introduction and advancement of endovascular surgery. The majority of PAD that requires mechanical treatment is managed with endovascular interventions using a variety of techniques and devices. The infrainguinal vasculature, especially the superficial femoral artery (
