Ultrasound assessment of the pelvic sidewall: methodological consensus opinion

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 65, Issue 1, Page 94-105, January 2025.
ABSTRACT A standardized methodology for the ultrasound evaluation of the pelvic sidewall has not been proposed to date. Herein, a collaborative group of gynecologists and gynecological oncologists with extensive ultrasound experience presents a systematic methodology for the ultrasonographic evaluation of structures within the pelvic sidewall.

Anterior Ultrasound-Guided Superior Hypogastric Plexus Neurolysis in Pelvic Cancer Pain [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia and Intensive Care, 2008
The hypogastric plexus block is classically performed by a posterior approach, but there are recent reports of a computed tomography-guided anterior approach for patients who have difficult access to the hypogastric plexus by the posterior approach. We present two patients who were successfully given ultrasound-guided superior hypogastric plexus block

Robotic surgery versus laparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer: a comparative study on surgical safety and functional outcomes

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, Volume 95, Issue 1-2, Page 156-162, January-February 2025.
In this study, surgery was performed using this procedure‐based and close follow‐up showed that robotic surgery showed corresponding advantages over conventional laparoscopic resection in terms of protection of the pelvic autonomic nerves and achieved better late results.

Anatomical‐based classification of dorsolateral parametrectomy for deep endometriosis. Correlation with surgical complications and functional outcomes: A single‐ center prospective study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 167, Issue 3, Page 1043-1054, December 2024.
Abstract Objective To evaluate complication rate and functional outcomes of nerve‐sparing parametrectomy for deep endometriosis in relation to the extension of the surgical procedure, based on recognizable anatomical landmarks. Methods This was a prospective single‐center study including all patients undergoing parametrectomy for deep endometriosis ...

Neuroscience in peripheral cancers: tumors hijacking nerves and neuroimmune crosstalk

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 5, Issue 11, November 2024.
The figure depicts the intricate interactions between cancer cells, the immune system, and nerves within the tumor microenvironment. At the center, the diagram highlights the tripartite relationship among cancer, immune, and nerve cells, illustrating the dynamic and reciprocal influences they exert on one another.

Cross‐sectional investigation of the distribution characteristics and prognostic significance of lateral lymph nodes in patients with rectal cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 18, September 2024.
Lateral local recurrence (LLR) is the main locoregional recurrence pattern, and most rectal cancer patients have measurable lateral lymph nodes (LLNs) on primary CT scan. Patients with the largest LLN short‐axis diameter >10 mm had a poor prognosis. Patients with LLN risk scoring ≥2 had a worse prognosis.
