Thrombospondin‐4 is upregulated in abdominal aortic aneurysm: A vasoprotective response with potential therapeutic relevance

TSP4 is upregulated in human and experimental AAA. TSP4 knockdown accelerated AAA formation and exacerbated both vascular inflammation and remodelling, emphasizing that TSP4 upregulation may represent a protective response against AAA. Our findings suggest that preserving TSP4 could be a useful strategy in the clinical management of AAA.

The junction between the midgut and hindgut co‐localizes with the rectosigmoid junction

At 5 weeks of development, the midgut has formed its primary loop (left). It is well established that the midgut is bounded cranially by the caudal end of the ventral mesentery and the presence of the common bile duct, but its caudal boundary remains to be established.

During the past 5 years, 104 angiographic studies were performed in 87 patients (45 children and 42 adults) with 92 transplanted livers for evaluation of possible vascular complications. Seventy percent of the studies were abnormal.

The signalling pathway involves NADPH oxidase (NOX)‐derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) activation of protein kinase C (PKC). Aβ1‐42 can also activate protein kinase A (PKA).
