Superior Oblique Anterior Transposition with Horizontal Recti Recession-Resection for Total Third-Nerve Palsy

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2015
Aims. To report the results of lateral rectus muscle recession, medial rectus muscle resection, and superior oblique muscle transposition in the restoration and maintenance of ocular alignment in primary position for patients with total third-nerve ...

Retrieval Practice Through an Integrated Anatomy Laboratory Experience in a Doctor of Physical Therapy Curriculum

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gross anatomy is a foundational first‐year component of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum, with limited future vertical integration. Retrieval practice and spaced learning to enhance retention are rarely embedded in second‐year DPT coursework.

First‐trimester maternal abdominal subcutaneous and perirenal fat thickness and early identification of gestational diabetes: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To evaluate whether first‐trimester abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness (ASFT) and renal fat thickness (RFT) provide incremental value for early identification of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and their association with obstetric complications.

A Pain in the Buttocks: Practice Article for Sonographically Imaging the Quadratus Femoris and Ischiofemoral Impingement

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Hip external rotation can cause compression of the quadratus femoris (QF) between the ischial tuberosity and lesser trochanter of the femur, resulting in pain in the buttock, hip, and groin which can radiate down the leg. Ultrasound imaging can demonstrate dynamic impingement of the QF, including symptom provocation.

Bimedial rectus muscle elongation versus bimedial rectus muscle recession for the surgical treatment of large-angle infantile esotropia

open access: yes, 2017
Manar A Ghali Ophthalmology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University, Zagazig, Egypt Purpose: To compare bimedial rectus muscle recession (BMRR; 7–8 mm) and bimedial rectus muscle elongation (BMRE; 6.5–9 mm) for the surgical ...

Association between augmented enteral protein and muscle mass attenuation in critically ill patients: A sub‐study of a cluster randomized crossover trial

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Critically ill patients experience muscle wasting, impacting recovery. The associations between augmented enteral protein and muscle mass, strength, physical function, and quality of life are uncertain. Methods We performed a sub‐study in adult TARGET Protein participants from two sites between 23/11/2022‐23/05/2023. Our exposure of

Understanding the Concept of Self‐Performed Ultrasound: A Scoping Review

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Self‐performed ultrasound is an emerging technology that facilitates adept self‐scans in untrained hands. Inspired by self‐performed imaging in space for more prompt diagnosis and therapy, it has the potential to accurately monitor chronic conditions remotely. However, the lack of supervision and physical restraints can hinder its usability.

Rectus femoris tendon morphometry and practical landmarks for harvesting: A cadaveric study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To perform a qualitative and quantitative cadaveric analysis of the rectus femoris (RF) tendon to determine its suitability as a standalone autograft for knee ligament reconstruction and to identify consistent anatomical landmarks for safe and reproducible harvest.

Kinematic alignment reduces tibial internal rotation and maintains a larger retropatellar contact area than mechanical alignment in early flexion in valgus knees

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Alignment effects after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) may be particularly relevant in valgus phenotypes. This study compared kinematic alignment (KA) and mechanical alignment (MA) in valgus cadaveric knees during active, muscle‐loaded flexion, using the native knee as reference.
