Tidal disruption of stars by supermassive black holes: The X-ray view

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
The tidal disruption of stars by supermassive black holes produces luminous soft X-ray accretion flares in otherwise inactive galaxies. First events have been discovered in X-rays with the ROSAT observatory, and have more recently been detected with XMM ...

Updated Mass Scaling Relations for Nuclear Star Clusters and a Comparison to Supermassive Black Holes

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate whether nuclear star clusters and supermassive black holes follow a common set of mass scaling relations with their host galaxy's properties, and hence can be considered to form a single class of central massive object.

Primordial black holes as supermassive black hole seeds

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
Abstract The presence of supermassive black holes (SMBHs, M • ∼ 106-10 M ⊙) in the first cosmic Gyr (z ≳ 6) challenges current models of BH formation and evolution. We propose a novel mechanism for the formation of early SMBH seeds based on primordial black holes (PBHs).

Gravitational lensing by deformed Horava-Lifshitz black hole in rainbow gravity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
In this study, we investigate the gravitational lensing effects of deformed Horava-Lifshitz black holes, considering both strong and weak-field limit approximations and incorporating the impact of rainbow functions.

The Millennium Galaxy Catalogue: The $M_{bh}$--$L_{spheroid}$ derived supermassive black hole mass function

open access: yes, 2009
Supermassive black hole mass estimates are derived for 1743 galaxies from the Millennium Galaxy Catalogue using the recently revised empirical relation between supermassive black hole mass and the luminosity of the host spheroid.
