Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

Relationship between blood superoxide dismutase activity and zinc, copper, glutathione and metallothioneines concentrations in calves

open access: yesBiomath, 2021
RedOx processes determine the resistance of the organism to pollutants. The aim of the study was to establish a possible relationship between copper and zinc concentration in the blood of calves and the enzyme activity of superoxide dismutase.

Cell Membrane Vesicle Camouflaged Artificial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial cells camouflaged with a cell membrane vesicle coating are able to assemble into synthetic aggregates that exhibit rudimentary communication capabilities. Additionally, when these artificial cells are equipped with antioxidant capabilities, they are able to protect the intracellular homeostasis in HepG2 cells present in semi‐synthetic ...

Complex oscillatory redox dynamics with signaling potential at the edge between normal and pathological mitochondrial function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The time-keeping properties bestowed by oscillatory behavior on functional rhythms represent an evolutionarily conserved trait in living systems. Mitochondrial networks function as timekeepers maximizing energetic output while tuning reactive oxygen ...

Superoxide dismutase participation in plant adaptation to herbicides

open access: yesVìsnik Dnìpropetrovsʹkogo Unìversitetu: Serìâ Bìologìâ, Ekologìâ, 2005
Antioxidative enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) role in maize grain was investigated under herbicide action. Combinations of Dialen C with Harness, Primextra Gold and Frontier were used. Increasing in SOD activity proved to be a highly sensitive reaction.

Magnesium deficiency and high light intensity enhance activities of superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase, and glutathione reductase in bean leaves.

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1992
The influence of varied Mg supply (10-1000 micromolar) and light intensity (100-580 microeinsteins per square meter per second) on the concentrations of ascorbate (AsA) and nonprotein SH-compounds and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD; EC 1.15 ...

H2O2‐Generating Advanced Nanomaterials for Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
H2O2‐generating nanoplatforms can exploit tumor redox imbalance for O2 and toxic reactive oxygen species generation, leading to hypoxia reversal, and apoptosis of cancer cells, respectively. This review highlights the mechanisms of these nanoplatforms, including exogenous H₂O₂ delivery, endogenous amplification, and metal peroxides, which leads to ...

Zinc and Copper Levels in Patients with Primary Hypertension and Normotension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
One of the causes of primary hypertension is an exposure to free radicals. The formation of free radicals in the body can be prevented by taking antioxidants. Zinc and copper are cofactors of endogenous antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase. This study

Biomimetic Nanomedicines Deliver Naringin for Enhanced Acute Liver Failure Therapy via Balanced Regulation of Hepatocyte Oxidative Stress and Kupffer Cell Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A biomimetic nanomedicine (RBLN) constructed by loading natural antioxidants to clinically used layered double hydroxide nanoparticles is surface coated with fresh or senescent red blood cell membrane for balanced drug delivery to hepatocytes and KCs, thereby simultaneously alleviating liver oxidant stress and inflammation for effective drug‐induced ...
