Superparamagnetism

Journal of Applied Physics, 1959
Single domain ferromagnetic particles at elevated temperatures can behave magnetically in a manner analogous to the Langevin paramagnetism of moment-bearing atoms. The main distinction is that the moment of the particle may be 105 times the atomic moment. The experimental and theoretical foundations of this effect are reviewed and indication is made of

Superparamagnetic Clustering of Data

Physical Review Letters, 1996
We present a new approach for clustering, based on the physical properties of an inhomogeneous ferromagnetic model. We do not assume any structure of the underlying distribution of the data. A Potts spin is assigned to each data point and short range interactions between neighboring points are introduced.

Superparamagnetism of Cu2Se Nanoparticles

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2012
Cu2Se nanoparticles were synthesized using the standard Schlenk line and glove box techniques, with the hot-injection method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the initial nanoparticles were formed in a stoichiometric Cu2Se phase with a cubic structure.

Magnetoelectric Control of Superparamagnetism

Nano Letters, 2013
Here we demonstrate electric-field induced magnetic anisotropy in a multiferroic composite containing nickel nanocrystals strain coupled to a piezoelectric substrate. This system can be switched between a superparamagnetic state and a single-domain ferromagnetic state at room temperature.

Superparamagnetic Photonic Crystals

Advanced Materials, 2001
Photonic crystals consisting of monodisperse superparamagnetic colloidal particles have been synthesized. The particles (see Figure) are obtained by emulsion polymerization of styrene in the presence of freshly precipitated surface-modified iron oxide nanoparticles.
