Superplasticity of ceramics

open access: yesCeramics International, 1989
Superplastic elongation of fine-grained ceramics can be observed when some mechanical and microstructural requirements are satisfied at appropriate test conditions, temperature and strain rate. The phenomenon can be utilized in superplastic forming, solid-state bonding, sinter-forging, hot press, and hot-isostatic pressing.

Microstructural Evolution and Tensile Testing of a Bi–Sn (57/43) Alloy Processed by Tube High-Pressure Shearing

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
Tube high-pressure shearing (t-HPS) processing was performed on a eutectic Bi–Sn (57/43) alloy for 0.25, 1, 5 and 20 turns. The selected samples were stored at room temperature for up to 56 days to examine the strain weakening and self-annealing behavior

FE‐Based Biomechanical Analysis of AZ31B Sub‐Orbital Osteosynthesis Implant Manufactured by Superplastic Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
A concurrent finite‐element framework is presented for the design of a patient‐specific AZ31B sub‐orbital osteosynthesis implant manufactured by superplastic forming. The approach couples process simulation and biomechanical analysis to quantify the effects of thickness heterogeneity and grain‐growth‐induced strength degradation.

Superplastic Deformation and Superplastic Forming.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1991
The paper were reviewed recent researches of parameters which control the flow and ductility of micrograin superplastic materials. Particular attention was emphasized to the strain rate sensitivity of the flow stress, m and high rate superplasticity. It has been pointed out that the origin of these characteristics is the grain boundary sliding process,

Velocity‐Iterative Directional Annealing Enables Ultra‐Elongated Columnar Grains and Exceptional Ductility in TiAl Alloys

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study introduces a novel velocity‐iterative directional annealing (IDA) strategy to overcome stagnation challenges in columnar grain growth of Ti‐48Al‐2Cr‐2Nb alloys. By dynamically adjusting hot zone migration rates across iterative cycles, the IDA protocol achieved 92.2% synchronization between anisotropic α‐grain boundary (GB ...
