Transformations of superpositions by means of incoherent operations [PDF]
AbstractIn this paper we study how the coherence of a superposition of pure states is related with the coherence of its components. We consider two pure initial states and two pure final coherent states, such that the former ones cannot be transformed into the latter ones by means of incoherent transformations.

Estimating Preisach Density via Subset Selection
Preisach density is drawing increasing attention for interpreting material properties for memory and storage electronics. Preisach density can be linked to the observed hysteresis loops via the Preisach model that is based on the superposition of relay ...

Quantum-Inspired Genetic Algorithm for Resource-Constrained Project-Scheduling
The Resource-Constrained Project-Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) is an NP-hard problem which can be found in many research domains. The optimal solution of the RCPSP problems requires a balance between exploration/exploitation and diversification ...

We study the behavior of Approximate Message-Passing, a solver for linear sparse estimation problems such as compressed sensing, when the i.i.d matrices -for which it has been specifically designed- are replaced by structured operators, such as Fourier ...

Superpositions for nonlinear operators. I. Strong superpositions and linearizability
AbstractA notion of superposition for nonlinear operators is defined and strong and weak superpositions are distinguished. The classification and representation of operators having a strong superposition is treated. The algebra induced by the superposition on the domain of operators with strong superpositions, as well as their relation to linearizable ...

Uniform Continuity and Br\'ezis-Lieb Type Splitting for Superposition Operators in Sobolev Space [PDF]
Using concentration-compactness arguments we prove a variant of the Brezis-Lieb-Lemma under weaker assumptions on the nonlinearity than known before.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

We prove that if a superposition operator maps a subset of the space of all metric-vector-space-valued-functions of bounded n-dimensional Φ-variation into another such space, and is uniformly continuous, then the generating function of the operator is an

Simulating causal collapse models
We present simulations of causal dynamical collapse models of field theories on a 1+1 null lattice. We use our simulations to compare and contrast two possible interpretations of the models, one in which the field values are real and the other in which ...

Superpositions for nonlinear operators II. Generalized affine operators
AbstractFrom a previously given type of operators having strong superpositions, the Cf1,f2 classes, a generalization of affine transformations is obtained. The resulting operators have invariant quasilinear means. In addition, the operators have strong superpositions which are abelian semigroup operations with an idempotent property.
