Subsonic and Supersonic Jets and Supersonic Suppressor Characteristics [PDF]
Convergent and parallel flow nozzles were used with room temperature air to investigate the flow and acoustic characteristics over a Mach number range of 0.6 to 1.5. For subsonic jets the maximum sound pressure levels occurred at 19.1 from the axis and the sound pressure level decreased monotonically with increasing angle.

MIXING IN SUPERSONIC TURBULENCE [PDF]
In many astrophysical environments, mixing of heavy elements occurs in the presence of a supersonic turbulent velocity field. Here we carry out the first systematic numerical study of such passive scalar mixing in isothermal supersonic turbulence. Our simulations show that the ratio of the scalar mixing timescale, $τ_{\rm c}$, to the flow dynamical ...

Dynamic stability of heated geometrically irregular cylindrical shell in supersonic gas flow
On the basis of the Love model, a geometrically irregular heated cylindrical shell blown by a supersonic gas flow from one of its main surfaces is considered.

A Review of Studies on Ramjet and Scramjet Engines from an Energy–exergy Viewpoint [PDF]
The second law of thermodynamics and exergy is an important issue in the analysis of propulsion systems that have been highly regarded by researchers in recent years. Studies show that the analysis of the first law in air propulsion systems alone has low

Mach Fronts in Random Media with Fractal and Hurst Effects
An investigation of transient second sound phenomena due to moving heat sources on planar random media is conducted. The spatial material randomness of the relaxation time is modeled by Cauchy or Dagum random fields allowing for decoupling of fractal and

The Supersonic Project: To Cool or Not to Cool Supersonically Induced Gas Objects (SIGOs)? [PDF]
Abstract Supersonically induced gas objects (SIGOs) primarily form in the early universe, outside of dark matter halos due to the presence of a relative stream velocity between baryons and dark matter. These structures may be the progenitors of globular clusters.

Numerical Analysis of Aerodynamic Interference of Two Passing Cylindrical Bodies at Supersonic Speeds [PDF]
Aerodynamic interference is one of the phenomena that occurs when two flying objects pass near each other. In this case, the change in the pressure distribution on objects passing near each other causes a change in the aerodynamic forces.

Expansion Waves at the Outlet of the Supersonic Two-Phase Flow Nozzle
Two-phase flow nozzles are used in the total flow system of geothermal power plants and in the ejector of the refrigeration cycle, etc. One of the most important functions of the two-phase flow nozzle is converting two-phase flow thermal energy into ...
