Boundary superstring field theory [PDF]
Using the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism we provide a detailed analysis of the NS sector of boundary superstring field theory. We construct explicitly the relevant BV structure and derive the master action. Furthermore, we show that this action is exactly equal to the superdisk worldsheet partition function as was recently conjectured.

Modular forms and SL(2, ℤ)-covariance of type IIB superstring theory [PDF]
A bstractThe local higher-derivative interactions that enter into the low-energy expansion of the effective action of type IIB superstring theory with constant complex modulus generally violate the U(1) R-symmetry of IIB supergravity by qU units.

Theory of ultracold superstrings [PDF]
The combination of a vortex line in a one-dimensional optical lattice with fermions bound to the vortex core makes up an ultracold superstring. We give a detailed derivation of the way to make this supersymmetric string in the laboratory. In particular, we discuss the presence of a fermionic bound state in the vortex core and the tuning of the laser ...

Anomaly mediation in superstring theory [PDF]
AbstractWe study anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking in type IIB string theory and use our results to test the supergravity formula for anomaly mediated gaugino masses. We compute 1‐loop gaugino masses for models of D3‐branes on orbifold singularities with 3‐form fluxes by calculating the annulus correlator of 3‐form flux and two gauginos in the ...

One loop mass renormalization of unstable particles in superstring theory [PDF]
A bstractMost of the massive states in superstring theory are expected to undergo mass renormalization at one loop order. Typically these corrections should contain imaginary parts, indicating that the states are unstable against decay into lighter ...

Exceptional Algebroids and Type IIA Superstrings
Abstract We study exceptional algebroids in the context of warped compactifications of type IIA string theory down to n dimensions, with n≤6$n\le 6$. In contrast to the M‐theory and type IIB case, the relevant algebroids are no longer exact, and their locali moduli space is no longer trivial, but has 5 distinct points.

Homotopy Transfer and Effective Field Theory II: Strings and Double Field Theory
Abstract We continue our study of effective field theory via homotopy transfer of L∞$L_\infty$‐algebras, and apply it to tree‐level non‐Wilsonian effective actions of the kind discussed by Sen in which the modes integrated out are comparable in mass to the modes that are kept. We focus on the construction of effective actions for string states at fixed

Exceptional Algebroids and Type IIB Superstrings
Abstract In this note we study exceptional algebroids, focusing on their relation to type IIB superstring theory. We show that a IIB‐exact exceptional algebroid (corresponding to the group , for ) locally has a standard form given by the exceptional tangent bundle.

This talk will consist of three short stories. The first is a standard pep talk and progress report on string theory. For the second and third, I have picked out a pair of recent ideas that may turn out to be important: the existence of a minimum ...
