Spacetime Variable Superstring Vacua [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 1993
In a general superstring vacuum configuration, the `internal' space (sector) varies in spacetime. When this variation is non-trivial only in two space-like dimensions, the vacuum contains static cosmic strings with finite energy per unit length and which is, up to interactions with matter, an easily computed topological invariant.

Superstring cosmology for N4 = 1 → 0 superstring vacua [PDF]

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, 2011
AbstractWe study the cosmology of perturbative heterotic superstring theory during the radiation‐like era for semi‐realistic backgrounds with initial 𝒩 = 1 supersymmetry. This analysis is valid for times after the Hagedorn era (or alternatively inflation era) but before the electroweak symmetry breaking transition.

Type IIB flux compactifications with h 1,1 = 0

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We revisit flux compactifications of type IIB string theory on ‘spaces’ dual to rigid Calabi-Yau manifolds. This rather unexplored part of the string landscapes harbors many interesting four-dimensional solutions, namely supersymmetric N $$ \mathcal{N} $$

Charge completeness and the massless charge lattice in F-theory models of supergravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We prove that, for every 6D supergravity theory that has an F-theory description, the property of charge completeness for the connected component of the gauge group (meaning that all charges in the corresponding charge lattice are realized by massive or ...

Analytics of type IIB flux vacua and their mass spectra

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We analyze the tree-level potential of type IIB flux compactifications in warped Calabi-Yau orientifolds, in regions of weak coupling and moderately large complex structure.

Fake supersymmetry with tadpole potentials

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We study tadpole potentials of non-supersymmetric strings, resorting to a first-order formalism known in the literature as fake supersymmetry. We present a detailed analysis for vacua with only gravity and the dilaton, displaying the obstructions that ...

A search for exact superstring vacua [PDF]

open access: yesIl Nuovo Cimento A, 1994
We investigate $2d$ sigma-models with a $2+N$ dimensional Minkowski signature target space metric and Killing symmetry, specifically supersymmetrized, and see under which conditions they might lead to corresponding exact string vacua. It appears that the issue relies heavily on the properties of the vector $M_ $, a reparametrization term, which needs ...

Symmetries of cosmological superstring vacua [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1991
Abstract The concept of discrete scale-factor-duality transformations is extended to a full, continuous O(d, d) group. The action of the group transforms “cosmological” solutions of the low-energy, string-modified Einstein equations (including non-trivial dilaton and antisymmetric tensor fields) into other solutions, thus representing the natural ...

Flux Vacua and Branes of the Minimal Superstring [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2005
We analyze exactly the simplest minimal superstring theory, using its dual matrix model. Its target space is one dimensional (the Liouville direction), and the background fields include a linear dilaton, a possible tachyon condensate, and RR flux. The theory has both charged and neutral branes, and these exhibit new and surprising phenomena. The smooth

The convex hull swampland distance conjecture and bounds on non-geodesics

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
The Swampland Distance Conjecture (SDC) restricts the geodesic distances that scalars can traverse in effective field theories as they approach points at infinite distance in moduli space.
