Symmetries on the moduli space of (2,2) superstring vacua

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1991
Abstract Symmetries of the space of (2,2) string vacua for c = 3, 6, 9 are discussed in the context of orbifoldized Landau-Ginzburg theories. A general method for finding the maximal symmetry groups on the moduli space of untwisted marginal operators is presented, by studying deformations of superpotentials.

Superstring Vacua of 4-dimensional PP-Waves with Enhanced Supersymmetry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2002
We study the superstring vacua constructed from the conformal field theories of the type H_4 x M, where H_4 denotes the super Nappi-Witten model (super WZW model on the 4-dimensional Heisenberg group H_4) and M denotes an arbitrary N=2 rational superconformal field theory with c=9.

Spontaneous splitting and internal isometries of superstring vacua

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1987
Superstring vacua are normally presumed to be of the form M×K, where dim(M)=4, dim(K)=6, and where × denotes the global Riemannian product. Since, however, one would ultimately wish to understand the external/internal distinction in terms of some dynamical mechanism (‘‘spontaneous splitting’’) involving vacuum expectation values of local fields, it may

Non-Compact Current Algebras and Heterotic Superstring Vacua

NATO ASI Series Series B: Physics, 1990
It has been shown that a four dimensional finite and consistent superstring theory [1] can be constructed by combining any 2-dimensional superconformai field theory with a central charge c=9 with a superstring propagating in flat 4-dimensional Minkowski space-time.

Quaternionic manifolds for type II superstring vacua of Calabi-Yau spaces [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1990
Abstract In type II theories compactified on Calabi-Yau manifolds the moduli fields are accompanied by (Ramond-Ramond) scalar superpartners. N = 2 space-time supersymmetry requires the low-energy effective mutual interaction of these excitations be described by a quaternionic σ-model in target space.

Critical superstring vacua from noncritical manifolds: A novel framework for string compactification and mirror symmetry [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1993
A new framework is found for the compactification of supersymmetric string theory. It is shown that the massless spectra of critical string vacua with central charge c=3${\mathit{D}}_{\mathrm{crit}}$ can be derived from manifolds of complex dimension ${\mathit{D}}_{\mathrm{crit}}$+2(Q-1),Q\ensuremath{\ge}1, whose first Chern class is quantized in a ...
