Matrix Description of Intersecting M5 Branes

open access: yes, 1998
Novel 3+1 dimensional N=2 superconformal field theories (with tensionless BPS string solitons) are believed to arise when two sets of M5 branes intersect over a 3+1 dimensional hyperplane.

Superevolution

open access: yes, 2005
Usually, in supersymmetric theories, it is assumed that the time-evolution of states is determined by the Hamiltonian, through the Schr\"odinger equation.

Counting chiral primaries in N=1 d=4 superconformal field theories

open access: yes, 2005
I derive a procedure to count chiral primary states in N=1 superconformal field theories in four dimensions. The chiral primaries are counted by putting the N=1 field theory on S^3 X R.

Noncommutativity Approach to Supersymmetry on the Lattice: SUSY Quantum Mechanics and an Inconsistency

open access: yes, 2006
It is argued that the noncommutativity approach to fully supersymmetric field theories on the lattice suffers from an inconsistency. Supersymmetric quantum mechanics is worked out in this formalism and the inconsistency is shown both in general and ...

The numerical approach to quantum field theory in a non-commutative space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Numerical simulation is an important non-perturbative tool to study quantum field theories defined in non-commutative spaces. In this contribution, a selection of results from Monte Carlo calculations for non-commutative models is presented, and their ...

An Elliptic Triptych [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We clarify three aspects of non-compact elliptic genera. Firstly, we give a path integral derivation of the elliptic genus of the cigar conformal field theory from its non-linear sigma-model description.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Swampland: The Cosmologist's Handbook to the String‐Theoretical Swampland Programme

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract String theory has strong implications for cosmology, implying the absence of a cosmological constant, ruling out single‐field slow‐roll inflation, and that black holes decay. The origins of these statements are elucidated within the string‐theoretical swampland programme.

Non‐Relativistic Limit of Dirac Hamiltonians With Aharonov–Bohm Fields

open access: yesStudies in Applied Mathematics, Volume 156, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We characterize the families of self‐adjoint Dirac and Schrödinger operators with Aharonov–Bohm magnetic field, and we exploit the non‐relativistic limit of infinite light speed to connect the former to the latter. The limit consists of the customary removal of the rest energy and of a suitable scaling, with the light speed, of the short‐scale

Supersymmetric Index Of Three-Dimensional Gauge Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In N=1 super Yang-Mills theory in three spacetime dimensions, with a simple gauge group $G$ and a Chern-Simons interaction of level $k$, the supersymmetric index $\Tr (-1)^F$ can be computed by making a relation to a pure Chern-Simons theory or ...

Monopoles, Clarified

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT We propose a manifestly duality‐invariant, Lorentz‐invariant, and local action to describe quantum electrodynamics in the presence of magnetic monopoles that derives from Sen's formalism. By employing field strengths as the dynamical variables, rather than potentials, this formalism resolves longstanding ambiguities in prior frameworks.
