Norm Enforcement as Supervisory Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we study normative multi-agent systems from a supervisory control theory perspective. Concretely, we show how to model three well-known types of norm enforcement mechanisms by adopting well-studied supervisory control theory techniques for discrete event systems.

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Eye-Tracking Metrics for Task-Based Supervisory Control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Task-based, rather than vehicle-based, control architectures have been shown to provide superior performance in certain human supervisory control missions. These results motivate the need for the development of robust, reliable usability metrics to aid in creating interfaces for use in this domain.

Supervision and the dynamics of collusion : a rule of optimism? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In the UK, Serious Case Reviews and Inquiries undertaken over the last five decades continue to evidence that children are both silenced and rendered invisible as a result of parental behaviour and professional inaction.

Inhibition of acyl‐CoA synthetase long‐chain isozymes decreases multiple myeloma cell proliferation and causes mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

Resilient Supervisory Control of Autonomous Intersections in the Presence of Sensor Attacks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Cyber-physical systems (CPS), such as autonomous vehicles crossing an intersection, are vulnerable to cyber-attacks and their safety-critical nature makes them a target for malicious adversaries. This paper studies the problem of supervisory control of autonomous intersections in the presence of sensor attacks.

Cell‐free DNA aneuploidy score as a dynamic early response marker in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
mFast‐SeqS‐based genome‐wide aneuploidy scores are concordant with aneuploidy scores obtained by whole genome sequencing from tumor tissue and can predict response to ARSI treatment at baseline and, at an early time point, to ARSI and taxanes. This assay can be easily performed at low cost and requires little input of cfDNA. Cell‐free circulating tumor

Cross border banking supervision : incentive conflicts in supervisory information sharing between home and host supervisors [PDF]

open access: yes
The global financial crisis has uncovered a number of weaknesses in the supervision and regulation of cross border banks. One such weakness was the lack of effective cooperation among banking supervisors.

Integration of single‐cell and bulk RNA‐sequencing data reveals the prognostic potential of epithelial gene markers for prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is a leading malignancy with significant clinical heterogeneity in men. An 11‐gene signature derived from dysregulated epithelial cell markers effectively predicted biochemical recurrence‐free survival in patients who underwent radical surgery or radiotherapy.

Information Externality, Bank Structure, and Economy

open access: yesKDI Journal of Economic Policy, 2005
This paper addresses the question of whether a monopolistic banking system can lead to a higher steady state level of capital stock. Information externality has enhanced as the advance of the financial system such as the establishment of the credit ...
