Special Robotic Stylet for Assisting Endotracheal Intubation Based on Multisegment Continuum Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A robotic stylet is proposed based on a multisegment continuum mechanism for specialized assisting endotracheal intubation. Its geometric parameters are designed based on medical images and kinematic is derived. A prototype is fabricated, and its kinematics and application are experimentally verified. These robotic systems can improve accurate, secure,

Mapping Interictal activity in epilepsy using a hidden Markov model: A magnetoencephalography study

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 44, Issue 1, Page 66-81, January 2023., 2023
In this study, we use hidden Markov modeling (HMM) to create a unique statistical model of interictal brain activity for 10 pediatric epilepsy patients. This data‐driven model produces an output unique to each patient, and is used to localize the epileptogenic area(s).

Phenotypical Characterization of Gastroenterological and Metabolic Manifestations in Patients With Williams–Beuren Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are common in patients with Williams–Beuren syndrome (WBS), but their prevalence and possible causes are not yet fully known. This study assessed GI symptoms' prevalence and their possible origin by performing a predefined set of tests in adult WBS patients.

Comparison the Effect of Changing from the Supine to Lateral Position and Vice Versa on Plethysmographic Variability Index and Hemodynamic Values Assessed by Ultrasonic Cardiac Output Monitors in Patients Who Undergo Thoracotomy

open access: yesArchives of Anesthesia and Critical Care, 2022
Background: The change in patients' positions has a bold effect on the ventilation and hemodynamic parameters during surgery. In this study, we evaluated the changes in hemodynamic and ventilator values resulting from conversions in the position of ...

Expanding the Phenotypic Spectrum of HNRNPU‐Related Disorder, Documenting the First Familial Presentation and Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT HNRNPU‐related neurodevelopmental disorder (HNRNPU‐NDD) is caused by pathogenic and likely pathogenic variants in HNRNPU. With increasing accessibility to advanced genetic investigations, children presenting with developmental delay and intellectual disability will often undergo genomic testing; hence, the number of patients found to be ...

3He Lung Imaging in an Open Access, Very-Low-Field Human MRI System [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
The human lung and its functions are extremely sensitive to gravity, however the conventional high-field magnets used for most laser-polarized 3He MRI of the human lung restrict subjects to lying horizontally. Imaging of human lungs using inhaled laser-polarized 3He gas is demonstrated in an open-access very-low-magnetic-field (< 5 mT) MRI instrument ...
