Tradeoffs in supporting two page sizes

ACM SIGARCH Computer Architecture News, 1992
As computer system main memories get larger and processor cycles-per-instruction (CPIs) get smaller, the time spent in handling translation lookaside buffer (TLB) misses could become a performance bottleneck. We explore relieving this bottleneck by (a) increasing the page size and (b) supporting two page sizes.

Size and Support Ratings of US Banks

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2014
We examine whether Fitch support ratings of US banks depend on bank size. Using quarterly data for the period 2004:Q4 to 2012:Q4 and controlling for several factors that make large and small banks different, we find that bank size is positively related to support ratings. However, the effect is non-linear in line with the 'too-big-to-rescue' hypothesis.

On the estimation of entropy for unknown support size

2012 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2012
We consider the problem of estimating the entropy of a distribution P of unknown support size N provided with k independently drawn samples, where we are mainly focused on the low sampling regime where k < N. By extending a method of Hausser and Strimmer [1], which assumes a known support size, by using the support size estimator of Chao and Lee [2]

Support Sizes

1999
Abstract Triple systems are permitted to have repeated triples, triples that arc identical as 3-subsets. A theme throughout studies of triple systems is the goal to produce simpletriple systems having no repeated blocks. However, in some applications, the presence of repeated triples poses no difficulty. In fact, for certain applications

Support sizes of completely decomposable triple systems

Journal of Discrete Mathematical Sciences and Cryptography, 2001
Abstract In this paper, we determine the spectrum of support sizes of completely decomposable triple systems TS(v, λ) for λ = 2, 3 and all admissible v.

Virtual memory support for multiple page sizes

Proceedings of IEEE 4th Workshop on Workstation Operating Systems. WWOS-III, 2002
The advent of computers with 64-bit virtual address spaces and giga-bytes of physical memory will provide applications with many more orders of magnitude of memory than is possible today. However, to tap the potential of this new hardware, we need to re-examine how virtual memory is traditionally managed.
