Particle Size and Support Effects in Electrocatalysis

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2013
Researchers increasingly recognize that, as with standard supported heterogeneous catalysts, the activity and selectivity of supported metal electrocatalysts are influenced by particle size, particle structure, and catalyst support. Studies using model supported heterogeneous catalysts have provided information about these effects.

Size to density coupling of supported metallic clusters

Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2009
One of the difficulties in standard growth of metallic nano-clusters on oxide substrates as model catalysts is the strong coupling between clusters size and density. Employing multiple cycles, amorphous solid water-buffer layer assisted growth (ASW-BLAG) procedure, we demonstrate how the size to density coupling can be eliminated under certain ...

A Decision Support System for Medium-Sized Emergencies

2010 XXIX International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society, 2010
The decisions made by the operation commander in emergency situations should be made quickly to save lives. To avoid late or bad decisions, the commander must construct a situational awareness. The irregular arrival flow of information, uncertainty, information overload and lack of persistence are the main factors that hinder this task.

Measurement of Density, Particle Size and Shape of Support

2001
The density of gel beads is definied by the mass of a certain amount of gel beads divided by the corresponding volume. So to determine the density of gel beads, volume and mass have to be measured. Measurement of mass and volume of a certain amount of gel beads is not straightforward; gel beads consist in a large part of water, and consequently some ...

Variance as a function of sample support size

Mathematical Geology, 1990
The effect of sample support size on variance is examined and evaluated. Results based on variograms and geostatistics are compared to the classical relationship developed by H. F. Smith in 1938; that is, that the variance is reduced fromV 1 toV 1 /n b as the support area increases ...

Crystallite size distribution in supported catalysts

Journal of Applied Crystallography, 1974
A correction method has been devised in order to eliminate spurious details from the G(M) particle-size function. The method is based on the elimination of the negative minima in G(M) by an iterative procedure. It is applied to the distribution of Pt crystallite sizes in Pt/Al2O3 reforming catalysts.

Size- and support-dependency in the catalysis of gold

Catalysis Today, 1997
Abstract The adsorption properties and reactivities of gold are summarized in terms of their size dependency from bulk to fine particles, clusters and atoms. The catalytic performances of gold markedly depend on dispersion, supports, and preparation methods.
