Supramolecular association in (μ2-pyrazine)-tetrakis(N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)dithiocarbamato)dizinc(II) and its di-dioxane solvate [PDF]
The crystal and molecular structures of {Zn[S2CN(CH2CH2OH)2]2}2(pyrazine), (1), and its di-dioxane solvate, (2), are described. In each of these, the centrosymmetric, binuclear molecule features a five-coordinated, highly distorted square-pyramidal ...

Supramolecular Synthons: Will Giant Rigid Superspheres Do? [PDF]
For the first time, the concept of supramolecular synthons was applied to giant rigid superspheres based on pentaphosphaferrocene [CpRFe(η5-P5)] (R = Me, Et) and Cu(I) halides, which reach 2.1-3.0 nm in diameter. Two supramolecular synthons, σ-π and π-π, are discovered based on halogen···CpR and Cp*···Cp* specific interactions, respectively.

The formation of most multicomponent crystals relies on the interaction of hydrogen bonds between the components, so rational crystal design based on the expected hydrogen-bonded supramolecular synthons was employed to establish supramolecular compounds ...

Structural synthon approach to predict the possible polytypes of layered double hydroxides [PDF]
The complete universe of possible polytypes of layered double hydroxides (LDH) is predicted on the basis of symmetry arguments. A single MX 2 (X = OH) layer, also defined as a structural synthon, belongs to the layer group P$\bar{3}$2/m1.

O-Methyl m-Tolylcarbamothioate [PDF]
The synthesis, spectroscopic, and crystallographic characterisation of the title compound,O-methyl m-tolylcarbamothioate, MeOC(=S)N(H)(m-tolyl) (1), are described. The crystallographic study confirms the structure determined by spectroscopy and shows the

Aniline–phenol recognition: from solution through supramolecular synthons to cocrystals
Aniline–phenol recognition is studied in the crystal engineering context in several 1:1 cocrystals that contain a closed cyclic hydrogen-bonded [...O—H...N—H...]2 tetramer supramolecular synthon (II). Twelve cocrystals of 3,4,5- and 2,3,4-trichlorophenol

C–halogen…O supramolecular synthons:in situcryocrystallisation of 1,2-dihalotetrafluoroethane/HMPA adducts [PDF]
The in situ cryocrystallisation technique has been used to obtain four adducts between hexamethylphosphortriamide and 1,2-dihalotetrafluoroethanes having iodine, bromine and chlorine as halogen-bonding donor atoms.

Supramolecular synthons and crystal structure prediction of organic compounds [PDF]
The strategy taking into account regularities of crystal structure formation and results of theoretical crystal structure prediction has been proposed as a tool for crystal engineering. The role of the symmetry of the supramolecular associates (synthons) in the symmetry of the crystal structure is suggested.

Designing Supramolecular Gelators: Challenges, Frustrations, and Hopes
This article is a personal account of the author, who serendipitously entered the field of supramolecular gels nearly two decades ago. A supramolecular synthon approach in the context of crystal engineering was utilized to develop a working hypothesis to
