Flow Analysis during Soot Trapping on Aluminum Titanate Ceramics Filter with Hexagonal Cell Geometry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automotive Engineering, 2015
The phenomena of soot trapping and oxidation in a hexagonal cell geometry DPF made of aluminum titanium oxide were investigated through microscopic visualization experiment and a simple analysis based on Darcy’s law through the wall and the deposited ...

Endothelial Glycocalyx and Cardiopulmonary Bypass.

open access: yesThe journal of extra-corporeal technology, 2017
On the outer surface of a human cell there is a dense layer of complex carbohydrates called glycocalyx, also referred to as glycans or the sugar coating on the cell surface, which is composed of a complex array of oligosaccharide and polysaccharide ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Prediction and control of sound propagation in turbofan engine bypass ducts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This thesis contains original research into the propagation of sound in acoustically lined ductswith flow. The motivation for this work is the requirement to predict the sound attenuation ofacoustic liners in the bypass duct of modern turbofan ...

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Urgent Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery in a Patient with Post-Cardiac Injury Syndrome: A Very Rare Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2023
Background and Objective: Coronary artery bypass surgery in a patient with post-cardiac injury syndrome (PCIS or sever pericarditis following myocardial infarction) is very rare and extremely difficult.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Estudo da função simpático-adrenal em crianças submetidas a cirurgia cardíaca com hipotermia de superfície, perfusão limitada e parada circulatória Simpathoadrenal function during cardiac surgery in infants using the technique of surface cooling, limited cardiopulmonary bypass and circulatory arrest

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, 1988

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
