Application of the line-spring model to a cylindrical shell containing a circumferential or axial part-through crack [PDF]

open access: yes
An approximate solution was obtained for a cylindrical shell containing a part-through surface crack. It was assumed that the shell contains a circumferential or axial semi-elliptic internal or external surface crack and was subjected to a uniform ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Liquid metal embrittlement [PDF]

open access: yes
Crack propagation is discussed for metals with liquid metal in the crack space. The change in electrochemical potential of an electron in a metal due to changes in stress level along the crack surface was investigated along with the change in local ...

Water diffusion in cracked surface layers : Unloaded cracks

open access: yes, 2019
Water diffusion at the surface of a silica glass is increased when surface cracks are present which were inadvertently introduced by the surface treatment of samples. Due to the larger true surface exposed to the humid environment, an apparently increased diffusion constant must occur.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Investigating the Evolution Law and Fracture Mechanism of Overlying Coal-Bearing Strata Caused by Shallow Multi-Seam Mining in a Gully Area

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Compared with single coal seam mining, the stratum damage induced by shallow multi-seam mining is more severe and poses a risk of mine disasters that threaten the safety of coal mine personnel.

Pengukuran Panjang Simulasi Retak Permukaan dengan Teknik Perambatan Gelombang Ultrasonik Permukaan

open access: yesComTech, 2011
The length measurement of the surface crack simulation using surface ultrasonic wave method is performed for surface crack length of 5, 10, 15, 17.5, 20 and 22.5 mm. Each crack has the orientation of 22.50, 450, 67.50, and 900 against the surface of the

Deformation mechanics of deep surface flaw cracks [PDF]

open access: yes
A combined analytical and experimental program was conducted to determine the deformation characteristics of deep surface cracks in Mode I loading. An approximate plane finite element analysis was performed to make a parameter study on the influence of ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Developmental patterns and formation and evolutionary mechanisms of surface cracks induced by the mining of shallowly buried coal seams

open access: yesMeitian dizhi yu kantan
ObjectiveSurface cracks are recognized as one of the most common geologic hazards in coal mining areas in northern Shaanxi Province. These cracks directly cause damage to surface ecosystems.
