Electrical discharge surface alloying

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2004
Abstract This paper details the electrical discharge surface alloying/modification of γ-TiAl (Ti–46.5Al–4(Cr, Nb, Ta, B)) and α/β Ti alloy (Ti–6Al–4V) sheet (1 mm thick) during wire cutting using deionised water dielectric with nickel and copper wires.

Surface streamer microwave discharge

Technical Physics, 2002
An atmospheric-pressure pulsed microwave discharge on the surface of an insulating plate and between two insulating fllms is considered. The discharge is initiated in a quasi-optical microwave beam away from the beam-forming elements. The TEM field of the beam is less than the critical breakdown value.

Pulse-periodic surface discharge

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1983
An investigation was made of a pulse-periodic surface (gliding) discharge of the kind used in electric-discharge excimer lasers. In contrast to a bulk discharge, the surface discharge remained homogeneous at high pulse repetition frequencies without the need to replace the gas in the discharge zone.

Surface discharges on polymeric insulator shed surfaces

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1997
This paper describes results of an experimental investigation into surface discharges occurring on the surface of polymeric insulators. Discharges on partially hydrophobic surfaces were found to occur across well defined dry bands, while discharges on hydrophobic surfaces appeared as small points of light occurring between discrete water drops.
