Identify and Report Water Pollution: An Interpretive Guide to Surface Water Conditions of the New Hampshire Coastal Watershed, 2nd edition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This gude was designed to help people who work or recreate outdoors to interpret surface water conditions so that they would recognize a pollution incident and know how to report it.

Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge

open access: yesElectrical Science & Engineering, 2019
This project is concerned with surface dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), which involve designing the configuration of discharge and experiment, collecting and analysis data from experiment and simulation. Therefore, this report includes the objective of the project and general information of background.

30 kV coaxial vacuum-tight feedthrough for operation at cryogenic temperatures

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we describe the technology of building a vacuum-tight high voltage feedthrough which is able to operate at voltages up to 30 kV. The feedthrough has a coaxial structure with a grounded sheath which makes it capable to lead high voltage ...

Convulsant actions of 4-aminopyridine on the guinea-pig olfactory cortex slice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The effects of bath-applied 4-aminopyridine on neurones and extracellular potassium and calcium concentrations were recorded in slices of guinea-pig olfactory cortex. Neurones were orthodromically activated by stimulating the lateral olfactory tract.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Electromagnetic atmosphere-plasma coupling: the global atmospheric electric circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A description is given of the global atmospheric electric circuit operating between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. Attention is drawn to the huge range of horizontal and vertical spatial scales, ranging from 10−9 m to 1012 m, concerned with the ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Particle simulation of atmospheric streamer discharges on conductors with surface protrusion

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
A kinetic model of atmospheric streamer discharges on conductors with surface protrusion is first presented. The formations of streamer discharges in air on both the smooth conductors and rough conductors with different surface protrusions have been ...

Testing of typical spacecraft materials in a simulated substorm environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The test specimens were spacecraft paints, silvered Teflon, thermal blankets, and solar array segments. The samples, ranging in size from 300 to 1000 sq cm were exposed to monoenergetic electron energies from 2 to 20 keV at a current density of 1 NA/sq ...
