Investigation of Ring and Star Polymers in Confined Geometries: Theory and Simulations

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
The calculations of the dimensionless layer monomer density profiles for a dilute solution of phantom ideal ring polymer chains and star polymers with f=4 arms in a Θ-solvent confined in a slit geometry of two parallel walls with repulsive surfaces and ...

Spatially Non-Stationary Relationships between Changing Environment and Water Yield Services in Watersheds of China’s Climate Transition Zones

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Identifying the spatial and temporal heterogeneity of water-related ecosystem services and the mechanisms influencing them is essential for optimizing ecosystem governance and maintaining watershed sustainable development.

Decision tree-based detection of blowing snow events in the European Alps [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2021
Blowing snow processes are crucial in shaping the strongly heterogeneous spatiotemporal distribution of snow and in regulating subsequent snowpack evolution in mountainous terrain.

Reheating as a Surface Effect [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2002
We describe a new mechanism for reheating the Universe through evaporation of a surface charge of a fragmented inflaton condensate. We show that for a range of Yukawa coupling of the inflaton to the matter sector evaporation gives rise to a much smaller reheat temperature compared to the standard perturbative decay.

Drought Disasters in China from 1991 to 2018: Analysis of Spatiotemporal Trends and Characteristics

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Droughts have emerged as a global problem in contemporary societies. China suffers from different degrees of drought almost every year, with increasing drought severity each year. Droughts in China are seasonal and can severely impact crops.

Surface Effects in Superconductors with Corners

open access: yes, 2020
We review some recent results on the phenomenon of surface superconductivity in the framework of Ginzburg-Landau theory for extreme type-II materials. In particular, we focus on the response of the superconductor to a strong longitudinal magnetic field ...

Analysis of Ice Phenology of Middle and Large Lakes on the Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Considered as a sensitive indicator of climate change, lake ice phenology can have significant influences on regional climate by affecting lake-atmosphere energy and water exchange.
