Deglaciation constraints in the Parâng Mountains, Southern Romania, using surface exposure dating [PDF]
Cosmogenic nuclide surface exposure ages have been widely used to constrain glacial chronologies in the European regions. This paper brings new evidence that the Romanian Carpathians sheltered mountain glaciers in their upper valleys and cirques until the end of the last glaciation.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

River response to late quaternary environmental change in Corsica [PDF]
Mediterranean river systems are particularly sensitive to environmental change and often provide good archives to reconstruct fluvial histories. This study investigates river response to environmental change in two steep land river catchments in Corsica.

How phagocytic cells kill bacteria: Lessons from a professional killer
How phagocytic cells ingest and kill bacteria has been studied for more than a century, but many questions remain unanswered. The study of the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum brings new answers, and new questions. Professional phagocytic cells such as neutrophils and macrophages, as well as free‐living soil amoebae like Dictyostelium discoideum, employ

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Advancements in cosmogenic 38Ar exposure dating of terrestrial rocks [PDF]
© 2017 Elsevier Ltd Cosmogenic exposure dating of Ca-rich minerals using 38 Ar on terrestrial rocks could be a valuable new dating tool to determine timescales of geological surface processes on Earth.

Diffusion kinetics of 3He in pyroxene and plagioclase and applications to cosmogenic exposure dating and paleothermometry in mafic rocks [PDF]
In this study, we investigate the diffusivity of cosmogenic 3He in a variety of plagioclase and pyroxene compositions, and its application to paleothermometry and exposure dating in these minerals, through stepwise degassing experiments. While cosmogenic

A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of the Recurrence of Autoimmune Encephalitis
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a disease with a potential for recurrence, and patients receive immunotherapy to prevent it. However, there is no consensus on the duration of immunotherapy. This study aimed to determine the recurrence rate and identify the risk factors for AE to provide guidance on the duration of immunotherapy ...

Elevation Changes of the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet Interior During the Last Deglaciation
The dynamics and paleo‐glaciology of ice sheet interiors during the last deglaciation are poorly constrained, hindering ice sheet model reconstructions.

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.
