Surface impedance models for high impedance surfaces

Applied Physics A: Materials Science and Processing, 2011
Different analytical and numerical methods for calculating the surface impedance of a high impedance surface (HIS) structure have been studied and compared. In this article, two new approaches are proposed for calculating the surface impedance for general 2D-spatial periodic HIS structures, which include both the symmetric and asymmetric planar ...

Effective Surface Impedance of a Printed-Circuit Tensor Impedance Surface (PCTIS)

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2013
The surface impedance and dispersion equation of a printed-circuit tensor impedance surface (PCTIS) are derived using a modified transverse resonance technique. A PCTIS consists of a subwavelength-patterned metallic cladding over a grounded dielectric substrate. The metallic cladding is analytically modeled as a tensor impedance sheet.

An Impedance Controller for Surface Alignment

Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Control, Mechatronics and Automation, 2016
This paper present a human-inspired compliant surface to surface alignment method for robotic manipulators. The surface alignment task is break down into several stages, a) make a point contact, b) alignment of point-contact to line-contact, and finally c) surface to surface alignment.

Surface Impedance Imaging Technique

Analytical Chemistry, 2008
We demonstrate here a surface impedance imaging technique based on sensitive dependence of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) on local surface charge density. By applying a potential modulation to a sensor surface, we are able to simultaneously obtain three images: the dc component and the amplitude and phase of the ac component.

Electrochemical Impedance Imaging on Conductive Surfaces

Analytical Chemistry, 2021
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful tool to measure and quantify the system impedance. However, EIS only provides an average result from the entire electrode surface. Here, we demonstrated a reflection impedance microscope (RIM) that allows us to image and quantify the localized impedance on conductive surfaces.

Calculation of the Surface Impedance, Generalization of the Notion of Surface Impedance

1997
In all of the previous chapters, we have dealt with objects whose surfaces are described by an impedance Z, which is defined via the relationship $$\vec E - \hat n\left( {\hat n \cdot \vec E} \right) = {\text{Z}}n \times \vec H.$$

The impedance of a curved surface

Optics Communications, 1993
Abstract We obtain the impedance boundary condition for the electromagnetic field at a two-dimensional curved boundary between vacuum and a metal, as an expansion in powers of d(ω)|( 1 R min )−( 1 R max )| , where d (ω) is the skin depth of the metal at the frequency ω of the electromagnetic field and R min , R max are ...
