Surface mapping of thoracic impedance cardiograms

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1982
A method is desbribed for mapping the electrical impedance cardiac signal on the anterior thoracic surface in man. A sinusoidal current was injected through electrodes placed around the neck and lower abdomen and voltage differences were measured with a single exploratory electrode at 30 well defined position on the thorax and upper abdomen.

On electric surface impedance

Zeitschrift fr Physik B Condensed Matter and Quanta, 1978
The concept of surface impedanceZ E of an electric ac-fieldE ⊥ perpendicular to metal surfaces is developed and then applied to clean and oxide coated metals. Whereas clean metals show values forZ E which are not detectable, yet; oxide coated metals show very much enhancedZ

Evaluation of surface impedance of hysteretic materials

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2003
In this paper, a numerical procedure capable to analyze the nonlinear diffusion of the electromagnetic field into a hysteretic magnetic conductor half-space is presented. The result of such calculation allows for the evaluation of the surface impedance of the material and the formulation of nonlinear impedance boundary conditions.

Characterization of surface roughness by EHD impedance

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1997
The EHD impedance response of a smooth electrode with a periodically distributed reactivity has beenpredicted [1, 2]. A quantitative analysis of the diagram can be performed which allows the averagedimensions of the active sites to be measured from consideration of the two time constants appearingin the response.

Analytical study of surface wave multiple refraction in boundary of a scalar impedance surface with a tensor impedance surface

International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering, 2020
AbstractIn this paper, the multiple refraction phenomenon is investigated on theboundary of a scalar impedance surface (SIS) and a tensor impedance surface(TIS).

Surface Impedance of Superconductors

Physical Review, 1960
A detailed calculation of the surface impedance of superconductors is given based on the general theory of the anomalous skin effect in normal and superconducting metals given by Mattis and Bardeen. It is found that there are large corrections to the extreme anomalous limit value of the superconducting to normal surface resistance ratio; corrections to

Impedance of surface footings on layered ground

Computers & Structures, 2008
Traditionally only the static bearing capacity and stiffness of the ground is considered in the design of wind turbine foundations. However, modern wind turbines are flexible structures with resonance frequencies as low as 0.2 Hz. Unfortunately, environmental loads and the passage of blades past the tower may lead to excitation with frequencies of the ...

Surface Impedance Mapping Using Sferics

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2014
Naturally occurring radio emissions from discrete sferics in the frequency range 500 Hz to 30 kHz have the potential for shallow conductivity profiling beneath the surface of the earth. A dual-channel time-domain receiver was constructed and used over selected geophysical targets.

Surface Impedance of a Superconductor in a Magnetic Field

Physical Review, 1960
Explicit expressions for the static magnetic field variation of the surface impedance in a superconductor are derived. Detailed consideration is given to the two limiting cases of the classical skin effect and of the extreme anomalous skin effect, with the static field either parallel or perpendicular to the rf current.
