Effective impedance tensor of a statistically uneven impedance surface
Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics, 1985Within the approximation of the perturbation theory, the authors determine the characteristics of the reflection of plane electromagnetic waves from a statistically uneven impedance surface with an nonisotropic roughness spectrum. They calculate the effective impedance tensor, the Fourier amplitude of fluctuations of the scattered field, and the total ...

Analysis of dispersion and impedance properties of infrared impedance surfaces
2013 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI), 2013A stratified structure which supports the propagation of infrared surface waves is designed. The dispersion and impedance characteristics of the surface waves are studied in detail for an array of square patches. The field propagation of basic TE and TM modes at different frequencies are studied.

Surface Impedance of Superconductors
Reviews of Modern Physics, 1964Surface impedance theory and measurements at a few kMc or less on superconductors near the weak coupling limit (e.g., Sn) are reviewed. Discrepancies between theory and experiment are noted, and it is found that all these discrepancies can be explained in terms of anisotropy of the Fermi surface, anisotropy of the energy gap, and inexactness of the ...

Copper Conducting Surface: A Zero Impedance Surface
2021In this paper, the reflection of the electromagnetic wave at the surface of a conductive medium is analyzed theoretically in order to characterize the behavior of electric and magnetic field just inside and outside of the conducting medium. A case study is considered assuming copper as the conducting medium. From the study, indeed negligible difference

Surface roughness effect on surface impedance of superconductors
Journal of Applied Physics, 1994The measured values of microwave surface resistance and reactance of a superconductor have generally three contributions from (1) the intrinsic properties, (2) the internal defects, and (3) the external surface roughness. In this paper, we formulate the increased factor of surface resistance and reactance of superconductors using Morgan’s square ...

The surface impedance of superconductors
Advances in Physics, 1964Abstract New measurements of the surface impedance of superconducting tin and tin-indium alloys at 3 kMc/s, obtained by measuring the bandwidth and characteristic frequency of a resonator containing the specimen, are reported. The results are compared in detail with the microscopic theory, those on the low temperature surface reactance being reduced to

Surface waves over a convex impedance surface
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999The existence of the surface wave in an upward refracting medium has been predicted by Raspet et al. [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 89, 107–114 (1991)]. Making use of an acoustic analogy, one is able to study the surface waves above a convex cylinder and, hence, to simulate the propagation of sound over an impedance ground in an upward refracting medium.

Surface Impedance and Granularity in Superconducting Cuprates
MRS Proceedings, 1990ABSTRACTThe rf residual surface resistance Rres is an important figure of merit for superconducting microwave devices and for establishing the homogeneity of superconducting surfaces. In granular superconductors not only are high residual rf surface resistance values Rres observed, but also strong field dependencies of Rres(T,ω, Hrf) and the penetraton

Analytical Modeling of Surface Waves on High Impedance Surfaces
2009In this paper, analytical modeling of natural modes is proposed for the rapid and accurate analysis of various high impedance surfaces (HIS) composed of dense grids of frequency selective surface (FSS) elements printed on an electrically thin grounded dielectric slab, and on a wire media slab.

Edge Excited Surface Waves on Impedance Surfaces
2005 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005In this paper, the surface waves excited at the edge of a wedge characterized by anisotropic impedance faces are analyzed, when the edge is illuminated by an arbitrarily polarized plane wave at oblique incidence. In the wedge scattering problem, these guided wave modes are associated with pole singularities exhibited by the angular spectra for the ...
