Comparative study of collagen and gelatin coatings on titanium surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The vast majority of studies in the bone tissue engineering field are focused on the surface modification of titanium scaffolds to obtain integration of the scaffold in the surrounding bone tissue. Our approach consisted in benefiting from the advantages

Tooth surface mismatch modification method of cycloidal bevel gear based on conjugate tooth surface modification

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
In order to obtain locally conjugated tooth surface contact, a tooth surface mismatch modification method is proposed based on the fully conjugated characteristics of cycloidal bevel gear.

Biochips: Focusing on Surfaces and Surface Modification

open access: yes, 2004
Thousands of genes and their products (i.e., proteins) in a given living organism function in a complicated and orchestrated way that creates the mystery of life. In “genomics”, briefly genes of organisms, their functions and activities are investigated.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Flex flap [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
To provide flap with large upper surface radius as required for airplanes with over-the-wing blowing, distort upper surface of flap by actuator. Flap can be used as control surface at leading as well as trailing edges and, with minor modification, as ...

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

Shape Transition of Nanostructures created on Si(100) surfaces after MeV Implantation

open access: yes, 2005
We have studied the modification in the Surface morphology of the Si(100) surfaces after 1.5 MeV Sb implantation. Scanning Probe Microscopy has been utilized to investigate the ion implanted surfaces.

Cold Atmospheric Plasma Improves the Colonization of Titanium with Primary Human Osteoblasts: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesBiomedicines
Several studies have shown that cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) treatment can favourably modify titanium surfaces to promote osteoblast colonization. The aim of this study was to investigate the initial attachment of primary human osteoblasts to plasma ...

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.
