Mini Review: Comparison of Bio-Inspired Adhesive Feet of Climbing Robots on Smooth Vertical Surfaces
Developing climbing robots for smooth vertical surfaces (e.g., glass) is one of the most challenging problems in robotics. Here, the adequate functioning of an adhesive foot is an essential factor for successful locomotion performance.

Wetting morphologies at microstructured surfaces [PDF]
The wetting of microstructured surfaces is studied both experimentally and theoretically. Even relatively simple surface topographies such as grooves with rectangular cross section exhibit a large variety of different wetting morphologies as observed by atomic force microscopy. This polymorphism arises from liquid wedge formation along the

Morphology of ion-sputtered surfaces [PDF]
We derive a stochastic nonlinear continuum theory to describe the morphological evolution of amorphous surfaces eroded by ion bombardment. Starting from Sigmund's theory of sputter erosion, we calculate the coefficients appearing in the continuum equation in terms of the physical parameters characterizing the sputtering process.

Late Pleistocene human paleoecology in the highland savanna ecosystem of mainland Southeast Asia
The late Pleistocene settlement of highland settings in mainland Southeast Asia by Homo sapiens has challenged our species’s ability to occupy mountainous landscapes that acted as physical barriers to the expansion into lower-latitude Sunda islands ...

Surface Morphology of Human Leukocytes [PDF]
Abstract Surface morphology of individual leukocytes was correlated with their light microscopic appearance by a simple, direct technique. Circulating leukocytes of all types were roughened spheres with diameters similar to red cells, and leukocyte types could not be distinguished consistently by surface morphology. After surface contact,

SURFACE MORPHOLOGY OF SPUTTERED TITANIUM-ALUMINUM-NITRIDE COATINGS
A study on the surface morphology of sputtered TiAlN coatings is presented. The coatings were deposited by DC magnetron sputtering on tungsten carbide insert tools.
