Morphology of graphene on SiC(0001¯) surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2009
Graphene is formed on SiC(0001¯) surfaces (the so-called C-face of the crystal) by annealing in vacuum, with the resulting films characterized by atomic force microscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, scanning Auger microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Morphology of these films is compared with the graphene films grown on SiC(0001) surfaces (the Si-face).

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Atomistic Models and Molecular Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Here we show how atomistic computer simulation can help experiment unravel the rich structuralcomplexity of oxide nanomaterials and, ultimately, aid the fabrication of nanomaterials withimproved, tuneable or indeed new properties.

Mechanism and effects of surface morphology on absorption characteristics in ultrashort pulse laser processing of sapphire

open access: yes, 2021
For ultrashort pulse laser processing of a sapphire wafer, nonlinear absorption of laser energy at sufficiently high laser intensity is essential. This study found that in ultrashort pulse laser processing of a sapphire wafer, its surface morphology can ...

Stable isotope ecology of Quaternary cervid and bovid species in Southeast Asia with implications for wildlife conservation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Southeast Asia, one of the major biodiversity hotspots, is experiencing substantial species loss, with predictions indicating that 13–85% of species are threatened to lose their original habitats.
