An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Surface morphology and deformation mechanism of single crystal copper treated by laser shock peening [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
To study the relation between surface morphology and deformation mechanism of the target material under the shock, a flexible boundary loading, in laser shock peening(LSP), the macroscopic and microscopic surface morphology of a single crystal copper ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The influence of tetracycline loading on the surface morphology and biocompatibility of films made from P(3HB) microspheres

open access: yes, 2010
Tetracycline, an antibiotic used against a broad range of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria was encapsulated in microspheres made of poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid) P(3HB), a microbial biodegradable polymer isolated from Bacillus cereus SPV.

Structural and microstructural study of gamma ray-irradiated co-doped barium titanate (Ba0.88Ca0.12Ti0.975Sn0.025O3) [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2016
Barium calcium stannate titanate (Ba0.88Ca0.12Ti0.975Sn0.025O3) ceramics, synthesized by solid state reaction method and sintered at 1100 °C/3 h, were exposed to gamma radiation dose of up to 1 kGy using a Cs-137 irradiation source at a dose rate of 100 ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Tailoring Femtosecond‐Laser Processed Black Silicon for Reduced Carrier Recombination Combined with >95% Above‐Bandgap Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2022
The femtosecond‐pulsed laser processed black silicon (fs‐bSi) features high absorptance in a wide spectral range but suffers from high amount of laser induced damage as compared with bSi fabricated by other methods.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
