Ultrasensitive detection of miRNA with an antimonene-based surface plasmon resonance sensor

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
MicroRNA exhibits differential expression levels in cancer and can affect cellular transformation, carcinogenesis and metastasis. Although fluorescence techniques using dye molecule labels have been studied, label-free molecular-level quantification of ...

Surface-Plasmon-Assisted Growth, Reshaping and Transformation of Nanomaterials

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Excitation of surface plasmon resonance of metal nanostructures is a promising way to break the limit of optical diffraction and to achieve a great enhancement of the local electromagnetic field by the confinement of optical field at the nanoscale ...

Strong coupling between surface plasmon polaritons and emitters: a review [PDF]

open access: yesReports on progress in physics. Physical Society, 2014
In this review we look at the concepts and state-of-the-art concerning the strong coupling of surface plasmon-polariton modes to states associated with quantum emitters such as excitons in J-aggregates, dye molecules and quantum dots.

Propagation of surface plasmons on plasmonic Bragg gratings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2019
We use coupled-mode theory to describe the scattering of a surface-plasmon polariton (SPP) from a square-wave grating (Bragg grating) of finite extension written on the surface of either a metal-dielectric interface or a dielectric-dielectric interface covered with a patterned graphene sheet.

Au-Ag Gradient Alloy Nanoparticles with Extended Surface Plasmon Resonance Wavelength: Synthesis via Microreaction

open access: yesNano Biomedicine and Engineering, 2011
Au-Ag gradient alloy nanoparticles were directly synthesized in a microreaction system with their surface plasmon resonance been facilely adjusted. The surface plasmon resonance wavelength was red-shifted through increasing the raw ratio of Au3+:Ag ...

Bouncing surface plasmons

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
Employing an interferometric cavity ring-down technique we study the launching, propagation and reflection of surface plasmons on a smooth gold-air interface that is intersected by two parallel, sub-wavelength wide slits. Inside the low-finesse optical cavity defined by these slits the surface plasmon is observed to make multiple bounces.

Nanostructured surface plasmon resonance sensors: Toward narrow linewidths

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Surface plasmon resonance sensors have found wide applications in optical sensing field due to their excellent sensitivity to the slight refractive index change of surrounding medium.

Quantifying the role of surface plasmon excitation and hot carrier transport in plasmonic devices [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Harnessing photoexcited “hot” carriers in metallic nanostructures could define a new phase of non-equilibrium optoelectronics for photodetection and photocatalysis.
