Surface plasmon polariton assisted optical pulling force [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We demonstrate both analytically and numerically the existence of optical pulling forces acting on particles located near plasmonic interfaces. Two main factors contribute to the appearance of this negative recoil force.

Theory of acoustic surface plasmons [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2004
Recently, a novel low-energy collective excitation has been predicted to exist at metal surfaces where a quasi two-dimensional (2D) surface-state band coexists with the underlying three-dimensional (3D) continuum. Here we present a model in which the screening of a semiinfinite 3D metal is incorporated into the description of electronic excitations in ...

Interfacial Contact Engineering Enables Giant‐Performance Semiconductor Nanomembrane Optoelectronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work investigates modifying interfacial contacts in realizing giant‐performance semiconductor nanomembrane optoelectronics. Strategies, including surface reaction and buffer layer work‐function modulation, are explored to boost the Schottky barrier. An emerging material of YbOx is utilized for near‐ideal Ohmic contact.

Generation of Bessel Surface Plasmon Polaritons in a Finite-Thickness Metal Film

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2013
A theory of generation of low- and high-index Bessel surface plasmon polaritons and their superposition in a metal film of a finite thickness is developed.

Propagation of Terahertz Surface Plasmon Polaritons in a Dielectric Fiber with a Metal Wire Core

open access: yesFibers, 2022
The influence of the conductivity and radius of metal wires embedded into the dielectric fiber on the velocity and attenuation length of terahertz surface plasmon polaritons has been theoretically investigated.

Flexible Leaf‐Like Fuel Cell From Plasmonic Janus Nanosheet

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible leaf‐like fuel cell is fabricated by conductive gold nanowire sponge‐supported plasmonic Janus nanosheet, which can generate a power of 8.93 mW cm⁻2 with less than 10% performance deterioration even being bent or twisted. Further assembly in a tree‐like layout demonstrates omnidirectional light harvesting capability and wind resistance ...

Surface Plasmon Radiation Forces [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
We report the first experimental observation of momentum transfer from a surface plasmon to a single dielectric sphere. Using a photonic force microscope, we measure the plasmon radiation forces on different polystyrene beads as a function of their distance from the metal surface.

Multi‐Pathway Upconversion Emission in Symmetry‐Broken Nanocavities: Broadband Multiresonant Enhancement and Anti‐Correlated Interfacial Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Symmetry‐broken plasmonic nanoantenna arrays achieve broadband multiresonant enhancement of second harmonic generation (SHG), third harmonic generation (THG), and upconversion photoluminescence (UCPL), under femtosecond laser excitation across the near‐infrared range (1000–1600 nm).

Surface plasmon Fourier optics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2009
Surface plasmons are usually described as surface waves with either a complex wavevector or a complex frequency. When discussing their merits in terms of field confinment or enhancement of the local density of states, controversies regularly arise as the results depend on the choice of a complex wavevector or a complex frequency.
