Surface plasmon polariton absorption modulator

open access: yesOptics Express, 2011
An electrically controlled ultra-compact surface plasmon polariton absorption modulator (SPPAM) is proposed. The device can be as small as a few micrometers depending on the required extinction ratio and the acceptable loss. The device allows for operation far beyond 100 Gbit/s, being only limited by RC time constants.

Manipulation of sensitivity of the surface plasmon polariton waves at the interface of high magneto-optical medium and silver metal using angular interrogation

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
In this manuscript, sensitivity of the surface plasmon polariton waves (SPPs) using angular interrogation is coherently manipulated at the interface of four level high magneto-optical medium and silver metal using prism geometry.

Cascaded plasmon-induced transparency in spoof surface plasmon polariton waveguide

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
Manipulating spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) effectively has promising applications in developing ultracompact plasmonic circuits. Research on versatile components in planar spoof SPP waveguides has attracted widespread attention over the decades.

Surface Plasmon Polaritons on Metallic Surfaces

open access: yesOptics and Photonics News, 2007
A unified theoretical study of surface plasmon polaritons on flat metallic surfaces and interfaces is undertaken to clarify the nature of these electromagnetic waves, conditions under which they are launched, and the restrictions imposed by Maxwell's equations that ultimately determine the strength of the excited plasmons. Finite Difference Time Domain

Exciton-surface plasmon polariton interactions

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X, 2020
Exciton-surface plasmon polariton (exciton-SPP) interactions in semiconductor-metal hybrid nanostructures connect two fundamentally different quantum mechanical excitations with strikingly different dispersion relations and optical response.

Numerical modelling of surface plasmonic polaritons

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Extending optoelectronics into the nano-regime seems problematic due to the relatively long wavelengths of light. The conversion of light into plasmons is a possible way to overcome this problem.

Terahertz nanospectroscopy of plasmon polaritons for the evaluation of doping in quantum devices

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2023
Terahertz (THz) waves are a highly sensitive probe of free carrier concentrations in semiconducting materials. However, most experiments operate in the far-field, which precludes the observation of nanoscale features that affect the material response ...

Inhomogeneous Surface Plasmon Polaritons [PDF]

open access: yesACS Photonics, 2014
We show analytically and with rigorous computational electrodynamics how inhomogeneous surface plasmon polaritons (ISPPs) can be generated by refraction of ordinary SPPs at metal–metal interfaces. ISPPs, in contrast with SPPs, propagate and decay in different directions and can therefore exhibit significantly different intensity patterns.

Cascaded second-order surface plasmon solitons due to intrinsic metal nonlinearity

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We theoretically show the existence of cascaded second-order surface plasmon solitons propagating at the interface between a metal and a linear dielectric.

Amplification of surface plasmon polariton wave in single-walled carbon nanotube using electric current pump

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
We propose a surface plasmon polariton amplification technique based on direct energy transfer from a dc electric current flowing in a carbon nanotube. It is shown that when the synchronization conditions are satisfied, when the surface plasmon polariton
