Waveguiding with Surface Plasmon Polaritons

Reports on Progress in Physics, 2014
Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are electromagnetic modes propagating along metal-dielectric interfaces. Various SPP modes can be supported by flat and curved, single and multiple surfaces, exhibiting remarkable properties, including the possibility of concentrating electromagnetic fields beyond the diffraction limit, i.e., on the nanoscale, while ...

Parametrically resonant surface plasmon polaritons

Optics Letters, 2021
We present the theory of parametrically resonant surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). We show that a temporal modulation of the dielectric properties of the medium adjacent to a metallic surface can lead to efficient energy injection into the SPP modes supported at the interface.

Surface Plasmon-Polaritons

physica status solidi (a), 1999
We show how the presence of nanoparticles strongly affects the propagation of surface plasmon-polaritons. In resonance, part of their energy is scattered in a privileged direction. This new result is compared to recent theoretical calculations. Moreover, hemispherical elastic surface plasmon-polariton scattering will be shown, and specific features ...

Interaction Between the Magnetic Polariton and Surface Plasmon Polariton

Volume 8C: Heat Transfer and Thermal Engineering, 2013
This work numerically investigated the interaction between two resonances: the magnetic polariton (MP) and surface plasmon polariton (SPP). A reflectance contour plot of deep silver slit arrays quantitatively identified the MP mode and the SPP excitation’s dependence on the period.

Raman imaging with plasmon surface polaritons

Thin Solid Films, 1993
Abstract We report on plasmon surface polariton (PSP) field-enhanced Raman spectroscopy with a two-dimensional detection system that allows microscopic imaging of ultrathin films. The technique offers a means to distinguish between coatings which are optically almost identical films but which have different Raman scattering characteristics.

Low-Threshold Surface-Plasmon-Polariton Laser Pumped by Surface Plasmon Polaritons

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017
We demonstrate a narrow-linewidth, low-threshold surface-plasmon-polariton (SPP) laser based on a low-loss open cavity resonator leveraging grating-coupled SPPs to pump the lasing SPPs with strong spatial overlap and minimum perturbation.

Modeling of a Surface Plasmon Polariton Interferometer

MRS Proceedings, 2003
ABSTRACTWe model the operation of a micro-optical interferometer for surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) that comprises an SPP beam-splitter formed by equivalent scatterers lined up and equally spaced. The numerical calculations are carried out by using a vector dipolar model for multiple SPP scattering.
