Bouncing surface plasmons

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
Employing an interferometric cavity ring-down technique we study the launching, propagation and reflection of surface plasmons on a smooth gold-air interface that is intersected by two parallel, sub-wavelength wide slits. Inside the low-finesse optical cavity defined by these slits the surface plasmon is observed to make multiple bounces.

Investigation of surface plasmons in Kretschmann structure loaded with a silver nano-cube

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
A composite structure based on a Kretschmann structure loaded with silver nano-cube is proposed. A 442-nm laser was used to excite surface plasmons in the composite structure, and the electric field enhancement was numerically simulated using the finite ...

Real-space imaging of acoustic plasmons in large-area graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Acoustic graphene plasmons are superior to the graphene surface plasmons in field confinement and normalized propagation length, thus promising for applications.

Tuning localized plasmons in nanostructured substrates for surface-enhanced Raman scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Comprehensive reflectivity mapping of the angular dispersion of nanostructured arrays comprising of inverted pyramidal pits is demonstrated. By comparing equivalently structured dielectric and metallic arrays, diffraction and plasmonic features are ...

Sol-Gel Thin Films for Plasmonic Gas Sensors

open access: yesSensors, 2015
Plasmonic gas sensors are optical sensors that use localized surface plasmons or extended surface plasmons as transducing platform. Surface plasmons are very sensitive to dielectric variations of the environment or to electron exchange, and these effects

Quantum Dot-Induced Blue Shift of Surface Plasmon Spectroscopy

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
We experimentally demonstrate the spectral blue shift of surface plasmon resonance through the resonant coupling between quantum dots (QDs) and surface plasmons, surprisingly in contrast to the conventionally observed red shift of plasmon spectroscopy ...

Localized Surface Plasmons in Vibrating Graphene Nanodisks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Localized surface plasmons are confined collective oscillations of electrons in metallic nanoparticles. When driven by light, the optical response is dictated by geometrical parameters and the dielectric environment and plasmons are therefore extremely ...

Designing Plasmonic Gratings with Transformation Optics

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2015
Plasmonic gratings that support both localized and propagating plasmons have wide applications in solar cells and optical biosensing. In this paper, we report on a most unusual grating designed to capture light efficiently into surface plasmons and ...

Surface Plasmons in Silicon Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2021
Plasmon resonances (PRs) in metallic nanostructures have been extensively studied, whereas reports on PR in silicon nanowires (Si NWs) are very few, partial, and they refer to structures larger than 100 nm.
