Atomistic Simulations of Processes at Surfaces

2004
In this contribution, a review of the methodology for atomistic modeling of surface processes is given. The focus will be on the physical background of the methods used, their range of applicability, and their strengths and weaknesses for addressing specific problems. However, a few examples of selected applications will be presented as well. Some room

Kinetic Modeling of Processes on Surfaces

2003
Many processes on surfaces such as diffusion, desorption etc. are hindered by large energetic barriers. On a microscopic time scale, these processes occur very rarely. Many unsuccessful attempts are performed before eventually the corresponding barrier is crossed.

Growth Processes at Surfaces

1990
Thin films are of interest in industrial applications, and particularly in semiconductor devices technology.(1) From the physical point of view, they allow the study of two-dimensional systems, and their differences with three-dimensional states of matter.

Theory of surface processes

Surface Science, 1990
Abstract To understand kinetic process at surfaces, a macroscopic theory is advanced based on the Onsager approach to nonequilibrium thermodynamics. A microscopic basis is then sought by re-examining the kinetic lattice gas model to generalize the underlying dynamics for adsorption, desorption and diffusion.

Effusion and processes on the surface

Uspekhi Fizicheskih Nauk, 1976
A systematic review is given of the various approaches to the theory of molecular flow in the interior of vessels and of molecular effusion into vacuum. The approximate character of the photometric model, widely used at present in effusion calculations, is noted.

[Dissolution processes and surface changes. 3. Determination of the surface with the BET process].

Die Pharmazie, 1985
Two methods are demonstrated for the determination of the surfaces of solid substances by the BET-method. Using a newly constructed apparatus substances with high specific surfaces can be determined by the two-point-method with a good precision. For the determination of pulverous drugs we used the one-point-method proposed by Haul and Dümbgen [2 ...

Discrete surface signal processing: The polygon as the surface element

1995
Smooth surfaces are approximated by polyhedral surfaces both for display, and for other computational purposes. This is probably the most common surface representation in computer graphics, because polygons are what the current generation of graphics hardware can display efficiently.
