Phonon-mediated sticking of electrons at dielectric surfaces

open access: yes, 2010
We study phonon-mediated temporary trapping of an electron in polarization-induced external surface states (image states) of a dielectric surface. Our approach is based on a quantum-kinetic equation for the occupancy of the image states.

Persistence of transition state structure in chemical reactions driven by fields oscillating in time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Chemical reactions subjected to time-varying external forces cannot generally be described through a fixed bottleneck near the transition state barrier or dividing surface.

Simulation of the Fate and Seasonal Variations of α-Hexachlorocyclohexane in Lake Chaohu Using a Dynamic Fugacity Model

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2012
Fate and seasonal variations of α-hexachlorocyclohexane (α-HCH) were simulated using a dynamic fugacity model in Lake Chaohu, China. Sensitivity analyses were performed to identify influential parameters and Monte Carlo simulation was conducted to assess

Quantitative multi-hazard risk assessment to buildings in the Jiuzhaigou valley, a world natural heritage site in Western China

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2022
Mountain villages in earthquake-prone areas are likely to be exposed to multiple geological hazards. In this study, a comprehensive method is proposed to calculate the risk of buildings in two residential villages threatened by rockfalls and debris flows

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Molecular reordering processes on ice (0001) surfaces from long timescale simulations

open access: yes, 2014
We report results of long timescale adaptive kinetic Monte Carlo simulations aimed at identifying possible molecular reordering processes on both proton-disordered and ordered (Fletcher) basal plane (0001) surfaces of hexagonal ice.

Modelling the Interfacial Flow of Two Immiscible Liquids in Mixing Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents an interface tracking method for modelling the flow of immiscible metallic liquids in mixing processes. The methodology can provide an insight into mixing processes for studying the fundamental morphology development mechanisms for ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...
