Surface properties of fluids of charged platelike colloids

open access: yes, 2006
Surface properties of mixtures of charged platelike colloids and salt in contact with a charged planar wall are studied within density functional theory.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

A Property that Characterizes the Enneper Surface and Helix Surfaces

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Mathematics
AbstractThe main goal of this paper is to show that helix surfaces and the Enneper surface are the only surfaces in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space $$\mathbb {R}^{3}$$ R 3 whose isogonal lines are generalized ...

On surface properties of two-dimensional percolation clusters

open access: yes, 1995
The two-dimensional site percolation problem is studied by transfer-matrix methods on finite-width strips with free boundary conditions. The relationship between correlation-length amplitudes and critical indices, predicted by conformal invariance ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Comparison of Surface Roughness of Class V Cavity Preparation using Diamond Abrasive Point and Ultrasonic Tip and Measurement of Shear Bond Strength after Restoration with Composite Resin: An In-vitro Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Non Carious Cervical Lesions (NCCLs) represent a prevalent dental condition characterised by the erosion of tooth structure at the cementoenamel junction without the involvement of dental caries.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

The effect of cool paints and surface properties of the facade on the thermal and energy efficiency of buildings in a hot and arid climate

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2019
The facade of a building is a decisive factor in the thermal and energy performance of buildings. Its surfaces are considered as zones of heat transfer between the inside and the outside.
