Diffraction analysis of dielectric surface-relief gratings

Diffraction by a dielectric surface-relief grating is analyzed using rigorous coupled-wave theory. The analysis applies to arbitrary grating profiles, groove depths, angles of incidence, and wavelengths. Example results for a wide range of groove depths are presented for sinusoidal, square-wave, triangular, and sawtooth gratings.

Diffraction by surface-relief gratings with conic cross-sectional grating shapes

Diffraction of plane waves by dielectric surface-relief gratings with conic (elliptic, hyperbolic, parabolic) cross-sectional grating shapes is analyzed, using a simple transmittance theory. Integral expressions for the complex amplitudes of the diffracted waves are given for these structures.

Polarization gratings with surface relief in dyed gelatin and their postdevelopment diffraction

Some characteristics of dyed gelatin films when polarization gratings are recorded are reported. Two dyes, Malachite Green and Methylene Blue, are used in our experiment. In particular, no dichromate was added to Methylene Blue plates before or after exposure.

Formation of Surface Relief Gratings: Effect of the Density of the Host Material

We use molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the effect of the density of the host material on the isomerization-induced diffusion mechanism that results in surface relief gratings formation. We find that a decrease in density increases the diffusion coefficient in a similar way for driven and spontaneous diffusion.

Polarization analysis of surface-relief D-fiber Bragg gratings

Surface-relief fiber Bragg gratings exhibit substantially more polarization dependence than standard fiber Bragg gratings. Using D-fiber with different core orientations, surface-relief gratings are analyzed and fabricated to determine the polarization dependence.
