Optically induced surface relief gratings on azopolymers
SPIE Proceedings, 2000Azobenzene containing amorphous polymers are used to fabricate thin films that can act as optical waveguides. Furthermore, stable surface relief structures such as gratings can be holographically inscribed onto the films using low and medium power lasers.

Scatterometry: a metrology for subwavelength surface-relief gratings
SPIE Proceedings, 2001Phase-modulation scatterometry is a metrology technique for determining the parameters of gratings using as a key device a phase modulator. For measurement purposes the phase modulator requires a complicated calibration procedure that is analyzed here in detail.

Surface relief grating formation on nano-objects
Applied Physics Letters, 2009We exploit the photoinduced migration effect in azopolymer thin films to induce surface relief patterning of nano-objects. Manipulation and precise control of the molecular order is achieved at the nanoscale. Interaction between a laser beam from an argon laser and the azopolymer nano-objects induces structures on the surface.

Ceramic surface relief gratings imprinted on an optical fiber tip
Applied Optics, 2022We report on the fabrication, experimental measurement, and numerical simulation of sol-gel diffraction grating structures deposited on the end-face of a single mode optical fiber. Using the imprint method, we manufactured surface relief grating structures in four configurations with different grating-relative-to-fiber arrangements.

Surface relief gratings in azo-polymers revisited
Journal of Applied Physics, 2018We use the concept of vectorial photochemical tweezing to rationalize the experimental observations of surface relief gratings in azo-polymers, e.g., the photochemically induced motion of the polymer in a one-dimensional intensity gradient produced by two-laser beam interference.

PHOTOINDUCED SURFACE RELIEF GRATINGS ON AZOCELLULOSE FILMS
Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A, 2001Surface relief gratings (SRG) on films of azobenzene–modified cellulose (azocellulose) with ultrahigh molecular weight were holographically recorded in a single step. Surface modulation depth of the SRGs increased with the degree of substitution (DS) of the azobenzene chromophores in the cellulose as well as with the grating spacing.

Dielectric surface-relief gratings with high diffraction efficiency
Applied Optics, 1984Diffraction properties of dielectric surface-relief gratings were investigated by solving Maxwell’s equations numerically using the differential method. The diffraction efficiency of a grating with a groove depth about twice as deep as the grating period is comparable with the efficiency of a volume phase grating.
