The Development of A mathematical Model to Predict Runoff From A micro-catchment under High Water Application Rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Current trends in sprinkler irrigation to improve application uniformity and reduce energy requirements haste led to problems of water application and potential surface runoff, which in turn have highlighted the importance of the soil and cultivation

Surface‐Plasmon‐Coupled Blue InGaN/GaN Micro‐LEDs with Oxide–Metal–Oxide Capping Layer Compatible to Chip Fabrication Process

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A sidewall‐integrated oxide–metal–oxide architecture is demonstrated to overcome efficiency degradation in ultra‐small InGaN/GaN micro‐LEDs. Conformal Al2O3 passivation combined with plasmonic Ag nanoparticles enables localized surface plasmon–exciton coupling, converting surface‐related nonradiative losses into radiative emission.

Benefits and limitations of data assimilation for discharge forecasting using an event-based rainfall–runoff model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Mediterranean catchments in southern France are threatened by potentially devastating fast floods which are difficult to anticipate. In order to improve the skill of rainfall-runoff models in predicting such flash floods, hydrologists use data ...

A Multidirectional Textile Interface for Remote Control Using Dynamic Area‐Based Capacitance Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, we present a textile, wearable capacitive interface enabling multidirectional remote control by dynamically modulating electrode overlap and spacing via a freely gliding upper electrode. A forearm‐mounted prototype drives robotic and media tasks with 12–15 ms latency, maintains < 0.8% drift after 500 cycles, and remains stably functional at 90 ...

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Runoff trend and potentiality in Melaka Tengah catchment of Malaysia using SCS-CN and statistical technique

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management, 2016
This study is focused to identify the surface runoff trends and potentiality of the five watersheds transforming the discrete runoff pattern to smooth patterns. Runoff potentiality was analyzed by Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) technique.

The influence of terracettes on the surface hydrology of steep-sloping and subalpine environments : some preliminary findings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Alpine and mountain slopes represent important pathways that link high-altitude grazing areas to meadows and rangelands at lower elevations. Given the often acute gradients associated with such environments, they potentially represent highly efficient ...

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard): An Aerial Robotic Swarm for Autonomous Detection and Entrapment of Rogue Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment

Surface runoff generation in a small watershed covered by sugarcane and riparian forest

open access: yesRevista Ambiente & Água, 2013
Since an understanding of how runoff is generated is of great importance to soil conservation, to water availability and to the management of a watershed, the objective of this study was to understand the generation of surface runoff in a watershed ...
