Discrete Element Analysis of Surface Fault Rupture through Granular Media [PDF]
Earthquake surface fault rupture can cause substantial structural damage and loss of life in near-fault regions. Active fault traces cannot always be avoided, especially by linear infrastructure such as lifelines.

A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Sustained supershear rupture during the 2025 Mandalay, Myanmar earthquake
The 2025 Mw 7.8 Myanmar earthquake ruptured the Sagaing fault, where sparse near-fault seismic observations limit source characterization. Here, we integrate optical imagery, InSAR, finite-fault slip inversion, back-projection (BP), and dynamic rupture ...

The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Investigation of Parameters Influencing Reverse Fault Rupture Propagation to the Ground Surface
Surface fault rupture poses a serious threat to infrastructure in many seismically active regions, but knowledge about the factors which control the likelihood of surface displacement is limited.
