Solar radiation on inclined surfaces

Solar Energy, 1990
Measured solar radiation data for one location in Lesotho is used to test the applicability of two theoretical models for computing total solar radiation on inclined surfaces. The models selected for discussion are the isotropic model suggested by Liu and Jordan and the anisotropic model by Hay.

Solar radiation at the earth's surface

Solar Energy, 1961
Abstract Longer records of annual solar radiation intensity on the horizontal surface are now availabe from over 300 locations. These have been incorporated into a new generalized world map of average solar energy received at the earth's surface. Greatest uncertainty exists over the oceans.

Solar Radiation to Nonobstructed Inclined Surfaces

1997
Researchers and students in physical climatology are interested in radiative, sensible heat, and latent heat exchanges between the atmosphere and the Earth and how to use models to compute these energy exchanges in natural and agricultural systems.

Correlations for Estimation of Solar Radiation on Horizontal Surfaces

Journal of Energy Engineering, 2008
In this study, variation of the solar radiation over horizontal surfaces for clear-sky atmospheres was predicted and compared with measurements carried out in Erzurum, Turkey (latitude: 39.55, longitude: 41.16, and altitude: 1869 m ). Hottel’s clear-sky model was used in calculations of solar radiation on horizontal surfaces for clear-sky atmospheres ...

Azimuth Dependence of Solar Radiation on Inclined Surfaces

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1998
In general, the daily variation pattern of global solar radiation on an inclined surface is estimated by assuming the symmetrical daily variation of global solar radiation. The author carried out an experiment to examine the azimuth dependences of solar radiation on an inclined surface.

Estimation of Surface Net Radiation from Solar Shortwave Radiation Measurements

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
This study develops a method to estimate surface daytime net radiation (Rn) from solar shortwave radiation measurements with help of the conventional meteorological observations and vegetation indices from satellite. Data collected at twenty-two sites in the U.S.

Do Satellites Detect Trends in Surface Solar Radiation?

Science, 2005
Long-term variations in solar radiation at Earth's surface ( S ) can affect our climate, the hydrological cycle, plant photosynthesis, and solar power. Sustained decreases in S have been widely reported from about the year 1960 to 1990.

The computation of solar radiation intensities Part 2—Solar radiation on inclined surfaces

Solar Energy, 1966
Abstract This paper describes a new approach to the procedure for calculating the total radiation flux received on a surface of any prescribed attitude, both as regards inclination to the horizontal and azimuth angle relative to the south meridian.

Solar Radiation Data Modeling with a Novel Surface Fitting Approach

2008
In this work one year hourly solar radiation data are analyzed and modeled. Using a 2-D surface fitting approach, a novel model is developed for the general behavior of the solar radiation. The mathematical formulation of the 2-D surface model is obtained.

A Surface Solar Radiation Model for Cloudy Atmospheres

Monthly Weather Review, 1981
Abstract A numerical solar radiation model based on standard meteorological data was revised for clouds using data from the GARP Atlantic Tropical Experiment (GATE). Climatic-mean transmittance functions were revised for low and convective clouds independent of zenith angle.
