Evaluation of Bond Strength of Different Surface-Treated Translucent Zirconia Blocks Luted with Universal Resin Cement to Glass-Reinforced Core Composite Before and After Aging: An In vitro Study

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: Zirconia crowns are increasingly popular due to their optical properties, minimal preparation, high strength, and biocompatibility. Aim: To evaluate the effect of silane alone and silane with subsequent heat treatment on the shear bond ...

Surface qualities have little effect on vection strength

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
We investigated the effects of different surface qualities of materials on vection strength. Previous studies have extensively examined the stimulus parameters for effective vection induction.

Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

Examining the Impact of Incorporating Silicon Dioxide Nanoparticles on the Surface Roughness, Surface Hardness, Tensile Strength, and Shear Bond Strength of Chairside Room Temperature Silicone-based Soft Denture Liners: An In-Vitro Study

open access: yesDental Hypotheses
Introduction: This study aimed to assess the effect of the addition of 1%, 1.5%, and 2% by weight silicon dioxide nanoparticles on the surface roughness, surface hardness, tensile strength, and shear bond strength of chairside room temperature silicone ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Improved Fractographic Strength Estimates Based on Surface Profilometry

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Fractography is a valuable method that uses post-mortem topographical information to estimate the stress field near the fracture origin and help establish the root cause of failures.

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Exploring the influence of lactoferrin on wound healing and related signaling pathways: a systematic review

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lactoferrin promotes wound healing by activating MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and extracellular matrix pathways, enhancing fibroblast remodeling, proliferation, and re‐epithelialization. These mechanisms highlight its therapeutic potential in inflammation control, tissue repair, and remodeling.

Cover crops lower soil surface strength, may improve soil permeability

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1992
Poor water penetration constitutes a major production constraint for more than 400, 000 acres of agricultural land in California. The associated economic losses are particularly appreciable in the production of fruit and nut crops.

Establishment of the Controlled Low-Strength Desulfurization Slag Prediction Model for Compressive Strength and Surface Resistivity

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this study, the desulfurization slag used the volume method to replace fine natural aggregates in controllable low-strength materials (CLSM); the desulfurization slag content (DS) and curing time (t) were used as variables to test the compressive ...
