Economic Consequences of Land Surface Subsidence
Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division, 1981Overdraft in the Santa Clara Valley ground-water basin caused land surface subsidence over an area of about 63,000 hectares with a maximum depression of about 3.6 meters between 1912 and 1967. Since cessation of overdraft and replenishment of ground-water levels in 1969, there has been no significant land surface subsidence. During the period of active

The mitigation of surface subsidence in coal mines
Energy & Environment, 2016Overlying-separation layer grouting technology refers to manufacturing grouting by mixing water, fly ash and other materials on ground in proportion, and then injecting into stratum of development zone on separation layer with high-pressure grouting pump to fill the separation layer space for mitigating surface subsidence in coal mine.

The deformation damage of buildings above the subsidence area is not only caused by the unstable deformation of the mining residual cavities and fractures, the time effect of soil compression is also an essential consideration, at the same time, the additional stress of the new building group in the mining-induced subsidence area is often influenced by

Relationship between sub-surface and surface subsidence —a theoretical model
Mining Science and Technology, 1990Abstract This paper proposes a theoretical model which relates the sub-surface subsidence at any horizon to the subsidence at the surface caused by underground mining. Mathematical equations are derived based on certain assumptions that would enable the prediction of sub-surface subsidence from surface subsidence.
