Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Interim Report on Studies of the Mw ~7.9 Earthquake of 3 May 2006, Kingdom of Tonga [PDF]
The very large and rare Mw ~7.9 Earthquake of 3 May 2006 in the Kingdom of Tonga aroused great interest among both Tongan scientists and their colleagues in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

Here, we present a novel 3D cell patterning and culture platform. The “Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip” (FC‐Chip) consists of two opposing track‐etched membranes, creating a pseudo‐3D microenvironment for the cells in between. By providing the membranes with micropatterned cell‐adhesive islands of varying geometries and sizes, the FC‐Chip enables control over cell ...

Temperature Structure and Atmospheric Circulation of Dry, Tidally Locked Rocky Exoplanets
Next-generation space telescopes will observe the atmospheres of rocky planets orbiting nearby M-dwarfs. Understanding these observations will require well-developed theory in addition to numerical simulations.

The case for dynamic subsidence of the U.S. east coast since the Eocene [PDF]
The dynamic subsidence of the United States east coast is addressed using the discrepancy between regional and global estimates of sea level, elevation of paleoshorelines, and adjoint models of mantle convection that assimilate plate motions and seismic ...

A droplet microfluidic platform is employed to enable high‐throughput, uniform tumor spheroid generation for evaluating siRNA‐loaded nanomedicines at the protein level. As a proof of concept, breast (MCF‐7) and brain (U87 MG) cancer cell lines are investigated using this platform, revealing penetration profiles and therapeutic responses between the two

Micromechanical computational modeling of reservoir compaction and surface subsidence
The authors generalize computational dual porosity models developed for the case where the solid matrix undergoes elastic deformations. Variational formulation and the corrosponding two-level finite element approximations are proposed to discretize the dual porosity system.

3D printed hybrid scaffolds combining bioactive silica–calcium chemistry with elastic polymers guide human bone stem cells to form bone. The scaffolds support cell survival, organization, and invasion while releasing osteogenic ions. Together, architecture and composition drive bone‐specific gene expression, extracellular matrix organization, and ...

The author elaborated the results of studies on Surface Subsidence in various coal fileds in Japan(Kushiro), England(NCB collieries) and Republic of South Africa (Sigma). Firstly, the author analysed the sphere at goaf area where fallen rock debris solidified at bottom part while upper rock strata deteriorated by cracking caused by earth pressure.

A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.
