Condensation in microchannels – Surface tension dominated regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper was presented at the 2nd Micro and Nano Flows Conference (MNF2009), which was held at Brunel University, West London, UK. The conference was organised by Brunel University and supported by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, IPEM, the ...

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

Experimental and numerical study on capillary flow along deflectors in plate surface tension tanks in microgravity environment

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Surface tension tanks are the most widely used satellite propellant tanks, which use liquid surface tension for liquid transportation and gas-liquid separation to provide pure propellant for thruster.

Stimulation of rhamnolipid biosurfactants production in Pseudomonas aeruginosa AK6U by organosulfur compounds provided as sulfur sources

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2015
A Pseudomonas aeruginosa AK6U strain produced rhamnolipid biosurfactants to variable extents when grown on MgSO4 or organosulfur compounds as sulfur sources and glucose as a carbon source. Organosulfur cultures produced much higher biosurfactants amounts

Characterization of WAC interactions with R2TP and TTT chaperone complexes linking glucose and glutamine availability to mTORC1 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TTT and R2TP chaperone complexes are required for the assembly and activation of mTORC1. WAC directly interacts with components of TTT, R2TP, and mTORC1, and these interactions are affected by the availability of glucose and glutamine, correlating with changes in mTORC1 activity.

The Cause of Surface Tension [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1925
THE reply by Mr. N. K. Adam, in NATURE of September 26, p. 464, to my note on the cause of surface tension, contains a very great deal with which I heartily agree. His method of calculating the shape and size of the drop from the surface energy is, of course, perfectly valid; as so often happens in mechanics, there are different ways of resolving the ...

Osmotic pressure‐induced calcium response states

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Acute hypotonic stress triggers distinct calcium response patterns in HEK293T cells. These signals originate from the endoplasmic reticulum via RyR2 and propagate to neighboring cells through gap junctions. This result highlights a novel calcium‐dependent mechanism underlying the intracellular and intercellular response to osmotic pressure.
