Concurrent optimization method of shape and topology for natural vibration problem of shell structures

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2023
In this paper, a concurrent optimization method of shape and topology for natural vibration design of shell structures is presented. The fundamental vibration eigenvalue is maximized under volume constraints for shape and topology optimization.

Cellular structures in Topology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
This book describes the construction and the properties of CW-complexes. These spaces are important because firstly they are the correct framework for homotopy theory, and secondly most spaces that arise in pure mathematics are of this type.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Topology optimization of engine bracket arm using BESO

open access: yesInternational Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, 2023
An engine bracket is one of the most critical components of the engine used for mounting and supporting the engine in the vehicles. Today, the automobile industry requires lightweight components, which will reduce the car's overall weight when fitted ...

Fermi Surface Topology of LaFePO and LiFeP [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
We perform charge self-consistent LDA+DMFT (density functional theory combined with dynamical mean field theory) calculations to study correlation effects on the Fermi surfaces of the iron pnictide superconductors LaFePO and LiFeP. We find a distinctive change in the topology of the Fermi surface in both compounds where a hole pocket with Fe dz^2 ...

Surface roughness prediction in milling based on tool displacements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, an experimental device using non-contact displacement sensors for the investigation of milling tool behaviour is presented. It enables the recording of high frequency tool vibrations during milling operations.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Smooth boundary topology optimization applied to an electrostatic actuator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Smooth boundary topology optimization (SBTO) avoids many of the problems encountered by conventional cell based systems coupled with material homogenization or density method. Shape optimization becomes part of topology optimization. The effectiveness of
