When superhydrophobic coatings are icephobic: Role of surface topology
Among different types of anti-icing coatings, superhydrophobic coatings have attracted considerable attention due to their water repellency and low heat-transfer rate.

Tracking surfaces with evolving topology [PDF]
We present a method for recovering a temporally coherent, deforming triangle mesh with arbitrarily changing topology from an incoherent sequence of static closed surfaces. We solve this problem using the surface geometry alone, without any prior information like surface templates or velocity fields.

Electrically Tunable Quantum Spin Hall State in Topological Crystalline Insulator Thin films [PDF]
Based on a combination of $k \cdot p$ theory, band topology analysis and electronic structure calculations, we predict the (111) thin films of the SnTe class of three-dimensional (3D) topological crystalline insulators realize the quantum spin Hall phase

Liquids on Topologically Nanopatterned Surfaces [PDF]
We report here surface x-ray scattering studies of the adsorption of simple hydrocarbon liquid films on nanostructured surfaces-silicon patterned by an array of nanocavities. Two different regimes, filling and growing, are observed for the wetting film evolution as a function of the chemical potential offset from the bulk liquid-vapor coexistence.

Topology Analysis of Bicycle Rim Brake Pad to Improve Braking Performance
Various parameters of rubber brake pad tribology will affect the braking performance of a rim brake system of a bicycle. Out of those, three main parameters are contact length of brake pad, surface topology of friction surface, and the thickness of rim ...

Super Liouville action for Regge surfaces [PDF]
We compute the super Liouville action for a two dimensional Regge surface by exploiting the invariance of the theory under the superconformal group for sphere topology and under the supermodular group for torus topology.

Electrical and topological properties of oxides films grown thermally on InSe substrates [PDF]
The surface resistance dynamics of oxides grown thermally on InSe substrates in two crystallography planes is obtained. It is determined that resistance changes considerably only during the first 5 minutes of the oxidization period.

Three-gradient regular solution model for simple liquids wetting complex surface topologies
We use regular solution theory and implement a three-gradient model for a liquid/vapour system in contact with a complex surface topology to study the shape of a liquid drop in advancing and receding wetting scenarios.
