Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Regeneration of thermally recycled glass fibre for cost-effective composite recycling : Fundamental study of strength loss of thermally conditioned glass fibre

open access: yes, 2014
Data produced using both unsized and aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) coated fibre will be shown and discussed. By applying a novel method of single fibre thermal conditioning (sf-TC) it was found that retained fibre strength is, in some cases ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Tensile ductility of a duplex surface treated maraging steel produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Interaction between the inhomogeneous microstructure and transformation induced plasticity

open access: yes
The tensile ductility of a surface-treated 18Ni300 maraging steel produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) was investigated in the present work. Both plasma nitriding and duplex treatments (plasma nitriding and Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coating)

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

HYDROPHOBIZATION OF BLEACHED SOFTWOOD KRAFT FIBERS VIA ADSORPTION OF ORGANO-NANOCLAY

open access: yesBioResources, 2012
Montmorillonite clay particles that had been prepared with an alklyl-ammonium surfactant were used to modify the moisture-sensitivity of bleached softwood kraft fibers through solvent exchange and adsorption methods.
